Thanks to our amazing supporters who donated to our emergency wildfire appeal, we have:

* Funded emergency wildlife rescue and veterinary care through ANIMA
* Donated essential parasite treatments to Dogs’ Voice and Stray Souls of Mandra
* Supplied food, water and other essentials to Cats Eden following its emergency evacuation
* Provided 20 large crates to ZEM Rescue for animals rescued from the fires

Unfortunately, wildfires are still on-going across Greece and we remain in contact with organisations across to identify where further help is most needed.

Animal Action Greece is seeking a new Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees and provide strategic financial leadership as our charity continues to grow.

This is an unpaid, voluntary role. Applicants should have relevant financial experience and a strong understanding of either the UK charity sector or the Greek operating environment. Candidates based in the UK or Greece are especially encouraged to apply.

Meet Lucky, a Hooded crow who survived the devastating wildfire in Porto Germeno.

ΑΝΙΜΑ - Σύλλογος Προστασίας και Περίθαλψης Άγριας Ζωής does not usually name its wildlife patients, but sometimes there has to be an exception.

Lucky managed to fly through the fire and escape alive, although the primary and secondary flight feathers were badly scorched.

Unable to fly, Lucky was found by a kind member of the public and taken to the Dogs' Voice camp at Megara Stadium. From there, ANIMA volunteer Vaso transported the crow to their First Aid Station.

Thankfully, Lucky had no other health problems and is now recovering alongside other Hooded crows at ANIMA’s facility in Kalivia. Once the damaged feathers have moulted and healthy new ones have grown, Lucky should be able to fly again.

Thanks to our supporters, Animal Action Greece was proud to provide funding to ANIMA during the recent wildfires, supporting its vital work rescuing and caring for affected wildlife.🪶💚

Thanks to everyone who donated to our wildfire appeal, we have been able to provide Bravecto tablets and food to Αδέσποτες Ψυχές- Φιλοζωικό Σωματείο Μάνδρας who have been working tirelessly this wildfire season.

The Bravecto tablets will help protect rescued dogs from fleas and ticks, which can cause suffering, disease and long-term health problems. For rescue organisations already facing immense financial and practical pressures, these essential treatments represent a significant expense.

🔥 URGENT: Protect Paros’ wildlife after the fires

Animal Action Greece has joined six animal welfare and environmental organisations in calling for an immediate temporary ban on hunting across Paros, ahead of the 2026–2027 hunting season beginning on 20 August.

The recent devastating fire destroyed vital habitats and severely disrupted the island’s wildlife, biodiversity and ecosystems. Surviving animals now face shortages of food, water and shelter, as well as the loss of breeding grounds.

We are calling for:

➡️ A one-year hunting ban across the whole of Paros
➡️ A five-year ban within fire-affected areas and neighbouring habitats where displaced wildlife may have moved
➡️ Protection for all forms of life and affected ecosystems
➡️ Stronger enforcement to prevent illegal hunting and disturbance
➡️ A scientific reassessment before any protections are lifted

The joint request has been submitted to all relevant local, regional and national authorities.

It is signed by Alkyoni Wildlife Care and Protection Association, Animal Welfare Paros, Animal Action Greece, Mesovounia Nature Reserve & Sanctuary, Our Shared Home Greece, FEP Animal Welfare Association, Paros Animal Welfare Society and Paroscat.

Extinguishing the flames is not the end of the rescue effort. Wildlife needs time, space and safety to recover.

The fire may have gone out, but life still needs protection to be reborn.

Thanks to our supporters, we were able to donate 20 dog crates to the Ζωοφιλική Ένωση Μεγάρων - Animal Welfare Association of Megara to help safely house animals temporarily displaced by the devastating wildfires.

More than 30,000 hectares have already been scorched by wildfires this year 🔥

In some areas, wildfires are still burning, with firefighters continuing to tackle active outbreaks and much of the country facing a very high fire risk.

For animals, the danger doesn't end when the flames are gone. The loss of food, water and shelter and can displace animals and threaten their survival for years.
