A big happy Pride Month from Comic Relief 🌈

Pride is a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, and a powerful reminder of the importance of love, acceptance and diversity.

At Comic Relief, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging aren’t add-ons, they’re at the heart of who we are and what we do. We’re committed to creating a culture where everyone feels valued, supported, and able to bring their whole selves to work.

We believe no one should face barriers because of who they love or where they come from, and we work every day to challenge discrimination in all its forms.

We can’t wait to celebrate this special month as we all continue working towards a more equal and inclusive future.

32% of parents say they skip meals weekly so their children can eat.

This is a reality that no family should have to face.

Sainsbury's is on a mission to raise £30 million for Comic Relief by the end of 2030, helping us donate 120 million meals to children and families facing food insecurity across the UK since 2022.

Together, we're working towards a future where every family has access to good food, so no child goes hungry.

'Let’s Put Hunger to Bed' was written by Richard Curtis and narrated by Jodie Whittaker. It is inspired by the lived experiences of those accessing food services funded by Comic Relief and Sainsbury’s, and shines a light on an issue affecting millions of families across the UK.

“Without For Baby’s Sake, we absolutely wouldn’t be together. We wouldn’t have our children, and that’s a frightening prospect.”

Katie* and James* have been together for 11 years. Together, they've navigated big life changes, while also learning to understand themselves and each other.

After the birth of their first baby, pressures began to build - exacerbated by exhaustion, unspoken emotions and the weight of new parenthood. Katie* didn't feel safe, so decided to leave for a period of time, to seek the help she needed.

After hitting rock bottom, they agreed to seek support as a couple. That’s when they were referred to For Baby’s Sake, an organisation that receives funding from Comic Relief, dedicated to breaking cycles of domestic abuse.

Through 18 months on the programme, and with support from their practitioners, Katie* and James* worked individually and together to process their experiences, rebuild trust, and strengthen their relationship.

Today, they have reconnected as a couple and as a family, creating a stronger, more stable, and nurturing home for their children and themselves.

With your support, Comic Relief can continue to fund life changing organisations like For Baby’s Sake, helping families break cycles of trauma and build safer, healthier futures.

If you are in imminent danger please call 999.
To talk to someone about domestic abuse, call the National Domestic abuse helpline on 0808 2000 247 (open 24 hours a day)

Right now, one in six parents in the UK say they have put their children to bed hungry at least once a week. That’s why Comic Relief are working with Sainsbury's to put hunger to bed, with a shared vision of a UK where every family has access to good food, so no child goes hungry.

Tracey, a single mum of five, has experienced food insecurity firsthand and understands the real difference that the right support can make. Despite working multiple jobs sometimes seven days a week, Tracey couldn’t keep up with rising living costs. There were times that she would have to go without eating so her children could. As Tracey recalled: “I'd only eat once a day. My main goal was to make sure that I kept them alive. We couldn’t find any stability in ourselves as a family. We couldn’t focus correctly. It’s a massive impact on the children not eating fruit and veg. I felt like I was losing – but I was doing everything I could. I had to be strong for them.”

Things began to change when Tracey was introduced to The Bread and Butter Thing, supported by Comic Relief and Sainsbury’s. Through its free‑to‑join food clubs, Tracey can now access a weekly shop of affordable, nutritious food, including fruit, vegetables and pantry staples.

This support has had a significant impact on Tracey’s wellbeing and family life. She says that “Now I eat at least 3 times a day. And since doing that, I'm functioning properly. I can eat with my children. We can have our meals together."

Saving around £50 a week means Tracey can better manage household costs, while her children are enjoying food again, trying new things and getting involved in cooking.

"I just get to live; I don’t have to survive. And living is so much more fun than surviving"- Anya. ❤️

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, an important time for communities to come together, talk openly and take action to support mental health. At Comic Relief, we’re passionate about supporting community‑led organisations that create the foundations young people and adults need to thrive. One of these is Gisda Cyf, a Welsh charity for young people, tackling youth homelessness while providing vital wellbeing and support services.

This support has been life‑changing for people like Anya. From a young age, she sofa surfed and experienced homelessness, longing for somewhere safe to call home. Reflecting on this time, Anya recalled, “Everyone else was learning to be a kid and learning how to be human, and I was learning how to survive.”

Just two weeks before her 16th birthday, everything changed when she was contacted by GISDA. Anya shared, "They said that they had a flat for me and three days later they picked me up and moved me in and it just felt so surreal and amazing to finally be escaping and going to start the next chapter."

Beyond housing, GISDA supported Anya with the practical and emotional tools she needed to live independently. A dedicated key worker helped her learn to pay bills, cook healthy meals and navigate life with confidence.

In her darkest moments, GISDA was a lifeline. “They saved my life in so many different ways,” Anya shared. "They taught me how to function. They helped me get support. They advocated for me with school and therapy. They just did everything that I needed, and I didn’t even have to ask for it. They changed my life and saved it, so many times.”

Today, Anya is thriving, working as a teaching assistant at a local primary school, and sharing her life with her partner and their two cats.
