Meet Luca

Luca is our In-Custody Employability and Skills Trainer at HMP Ford.

He’s spent 16 years working in hospitality, from hotels, pubs and cafés along the South Coast, to three years flying around the world with British Airways and living in the French Alps.

So, safe to say, he’s picked up a fair few stories along the way.

Luca brings all of that experience into his work at Ford, helping people build practical skills, confidence and a route into employment.

Outside of work, he’s into travel, climbing and growing things — from allotments and houseplants to getting outdoors and having a go at something new.

We’re really glad to have Luca as part of the Solace team.

✨our exciting new catering menu is here✨

We have created a fresh vegetarian and vegan catering menu for meetings, gatherings and events. Our focus is simple: good, seasonal food made to share, prepared in our Colet House café kitchen.

Colet House is a community space that exists to host, support and bring people together through events, wellbeing, culture and shared use of the building.

Together, we’re using food and space to strengthen community connection. Every order supports the ongoing missions of both Solace Coffee and Colet House, helping us continue this work in a way that is open, inclusive and rooted in care.

Take a look at the new menu or get in touch to plan your next event.

A warm welcome to the newest member of the Solace Coffee team.

Joining us through our partnership with HMP Ford on ROTL, he got straight to work helping us deliver our biggest catering event to date. He’s already been busy baking too, and we’ll have some of his treats available through our website soon.

A huge well done to the whole team for yesterday. It was our biggest catering event yet, and everyone worked incredibly hard to make it happen.

Special thanks to Myles for organising not just yesterday’s event, but three Sundays of events back-to-back. A lot goes on behind the scenes, and it’s appreciated.

Kylie ❤️

Kylie attended the Academic Network event with Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner in Chorley yesterday.

It was great to connect with so many like-minded people working to create positive change within communities. It was brilliant to catch up with Jordan from Renewed Horizons, who were proudly launching our pilot programme with in the area, and also Dave from

Exciting times ahead 👏🏻

We’re really proud to share that we’ve been awarded PCC grant funding to deliver a new project at HMP Preston, in partnership with the prison and Renewed Horizons CIC.

This programme will work with young men in custody — including those at risk of or connected to organised crime — creating a calm, consistent space to learn, reset, and build something different.

Through a hands-on barista course, we’ll explore everything from farm to cup, alongside customer service, teamwork, and building confidence for life beyond the gate.

Importantly, the support doesn’t stop at the gate. Working alongside Renewed Horizons CIC, we’ll offer through-the-gate support — helping individuals transition into the community with ongoing employability support, mentoring, and access to real employment opportunities where possible.

Grateful to PCC and our partners for trusting us with this work. More to come as we get started 🤎
