🚴‍♂️ 600+ miles completed. Over £6,000 raised. An incredible achievement. 💙

Yesterday, the Abingdon Extreme Fundraisers returned to Abingdon Market Square after completing their epic journey to Dunkirk and back in support of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

Over six days, the team cycled more than 600 miles through England and France, visiting significant sites including Sir Winston Churchill's grave, Dunkirk, Dieppe and Pegasus Bridge. Their challenge honoured those who served during the Second World War and all those who continue to serve today.

Despite injuries, exhaustion and the physical demands of such a monumental ride, the team showed extraordinary determination and resilience to reach the finish line.

Thanks to their efforts, they have already raised more than ÂŁ6,000 for SSAFA, with donations still coming in. Every pound raised will help SSAFA continue supporting serving personnel, veterans and their families when they need us most.

A huge thank you to the riders, their support team, everyone who donated, cheered them on, shared their journey and helped make this challenge such a success.

Congratulations to the entire team – what an incredible achievement! 👏

đź’™ Donations remain open if you would still like to support their fundraising efforts. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/riding-in-the-footsteps-of-giants?utm_medium=FA&utm_source=EM

🚴‍♂️ They are off!

The Abingdon Extreme Fundraisers are officially underway on their incredible 600+ mile journey to Dunkirk and back in support of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, honouring those who have served and continue to serve today.

After setting off from Blenheim Palace this morning and stopping at Sir Winston Churchill’s grave, the team have now reached Buckingham Palace as they continue their journey towards Tunbridge Wells.

Tomorrow, they’ll head on to Dover before crossing to France and, over the weekend, visit key Second World War sites including Dunkirk, Dieppe and Pegasus Bridge before making their way back to Abingdon.

💙 Good luck, team – we’ll be cheering you on every mile of the journey!

In the military, Tracy had known who she was: proud, strong, capable. She’d joined up to defend her country, but on civvy street she couldn’t protect herself from the flashbacks of wars fought long ago.

When diagnosed with a life-limiting illness compounded by the loss of her husband, Tracy was engulfed by grief for the life she thought she'd have. After all this it was finding an unpaid bill, leaving her with debts she couldn't pay, that drove her to make the life-changing call to SSAFA.

SSAFA secured funds to help Tracy pay her debts, replace her broken bed with a new one, and buy new clothing after illness led to weight loss. Tracy gave herself the grace and inner strength to ask for help, and SSAFA was there.
