Get Kids Going

Get Kids Going Get Kids Going! is a unique national UK charity giving disabled children and young people the opportunity to take part in sports.

is a national charity which gives disabled children and young people - up to the age of 26 yrs - the wonderful opportunity of participating in sport. We provide them with specially built sports' wheelchairs so they can do: athletics, marathons, tennis, skiing, rugby, sailing, boccia, basketball, sledge hockey, table tennis, fencing, shooting, archery, powerlifting and many more sports. inspires Br

itish disabled youngsters to compete in sporting events, from start to paralympic level, by giving them 'sports grants' to help with their; training, physiotherapy, travel, competition fees, design and development of sports' wheelchairs etc. With your help many can become world record holders and paralympic champions

Our aim is to give support to all disabled yougsters and aspiring athletes which need long term support, often over many years, to achieve their sporting dreams. Sadly, we are aware of big cuts in funding for such youngsters, from government and other sources, and so many of our youngsters are forced to rely on friends and family for financial help. As you can imagine this causes enormous burdens on many, already cash strapped, families and a constant worry as the cost of participating in their favourite sport is forever increasing. There are hundreds of disabled talented youngsters who have the potential to compete at all levels but receive either none or very little funding and are desperate to achieve their life-long dream. With your help, together we can turn their dreams into reality and help make them into sporting heroes!. Our work would not be possible if it wasn’t for the hundreds of runners who support Get Kids Going! throughout the year by running the Virgin London Marathon, Paris Marathon, BUPA Great North Run, Berlin Marathon, Ride London 100 Cycling Challenge, New York Marathon, taking part in L'Etape du Tour and the many other events and marathons worldwide. And also the numerous companies, trusts, schools and individuals who kindly give us such valuable donations and support. We’d like to say a ‘big thank you’ to you all.

✨️⛷️We're at the Winter Paralympics and at Get Kids Going! we are delighted to be supporting great young women at Winter Paralympic Games

⛷️⛷️ After two seasons spent battling injury, Menna Fitzpatrick returned to Paralympic slopes in the women’s Super-G Visually Impaired at Milano Cortina 2026.

✨️✨️ Menna is ParalympicsGB’s most decorated skier but found this Paralympic cycle punctuated by a number of injuries

🫶🫶 However it was great to see Menna made it back alongside guide Katie Guest to finish sixth in the Super-G in a time of 1:25.52 .

🙌🙌 “Now that I’ve done one, I’m way more excited and confident for the next races,” said the 27-year-old.

“It was definitely a step up from the downhill training runs. I managed to let the skis run a bit more which is a step in the right direction for sure.

“But I was way more confident and just really enjoyed this course.”

🫶🫶 We are also so proud of Hester Poole VI Ski Racer in her first ever Winter Paralympics

💪💪 18 year old alpine skier Hester and her guide Ali Hall crashed out early on Thursday but is positive for the slalom on Saturday

"Of course I would have liked to put down a good run for my Paralympic debut," said Hester, who was born with the rare eye disease Leber congenital amaurosis and has only 5-10% vision.

"But some people come here and have glory stories, get gold straight away and then have to defend that, some people have redemption arcs - so that's the angle I'm going for now.

"I've still got the slalom to come on Saturday, I'm looking forward to it a lot. I'm going to just try and put this out the way and start fresh on Saturday and hopefully put down some good times."

⛷️⛷️ Hester only found out she would be competing at the Milan-Cortina Games three weeks before it started.

🫶🫶 All of us at Get Kids Going! wish both Menna and Hester and all our our young Paralympians every success in future events

⛷️🏆 The charity is delighted to say that Neil Simpson, VI alpine skier, won a silver medal today in the Super-Combined alpine ski race at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Paralympic Games.

🫶🏆Well done Neil and Rob (his guide). We send all our congratulations and good wishes!

⛷️⛷️Get Kids Going! supported athlete, Neil Simpson, raced to his first medal in the men’s VI Super Combined alpine-ski event Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games! Coming second in the event against strong opposition.

The Para-Alpine Super-Combined is a two-race event which means Neil had to navigate the course on two occasions.

✨️✨️Neil was in fourth place after his first run this morning with his guide Rob Poth. On his second run he jumped into 2nd place with one his best times ever…. winning Team GB’s first silver medal of the Games.

✨️✨️Neil now has a full set of Paralympic medals including a bronze, silver and gold – having won a bronze and gold in Beijing.

Neil said….“The visually impaired men’s race is really strong and there’s lots of really great guys in there so really pleased to get onto the podium.”

The charity is delighted with Neil’s medal winning run today but so proud of all our para-alpine athletes with some good efforts from both Fred and Menna. Well done to them all. We hope they get a rest tomorrow and look forward to seeing them back in action on Thursday.

We are also looking forward to seeing Sam Couzens, Hester Poole and Dom Allen in action in the next few days!

We send all the team our best wishes for some great runs coming up soon in the Slalom and Giant Slalom.

⛷️🫶 Get Kids Going! are also proudly supporting Fred Warburton at the Winter Paralympics

🫶🫶 The 31-year-old finished 12th in 1:24.03 alongside guide James Hannan.

“We put it on the line. We were trying to push, we were carrying some decent speed through the top and then it all got a bit much and I had a few heavy turns through that top middle section,” Fred explained.

“Jimbo and I lost a little bit of contact through that middle which is difficult. For me to re-find him, I was using the blue dye on the ground which is pretty scary when you can’t see a great deal.

“As the hero he is always is, he slowed up and came to find me and we reconnected and we finished off well.

“That middle sector really cost us today. It cost us the chance to be the quickest AS4’s out there on the day and it cost the chance to be that quite a bit closer to the others on the day.”

“Today we got a bit of a reality check, but the great news is that we’ve got another chance to smash it out the park tomorrow,”

“We’re really excited for the alpine combined. Bit of retribution in the Super-G sector and then we’ll just let it run in the slalom and see what happens.”

🫶🫶 All at Get Kids Going! wishes Fred and James the best in future events along with team mates Neil Simpson and Menna Fitzpatrick

🫶🫶 We are delighted to support a number of the young paralympians at the Winter Paralympics.

⛷️⛷️ Neil Simpson delivered his best downhill run on the Cortina slopes as he got his Paralympic campaign underway but just missed out on a podium spot.

The visually impaired Para alpine skier finished fourth in a time of 1:21.31 alongside his brother and guide Andrew Simpson in his opening race in Italy.

“It was better than the training runs, my best run on this downhill, was quite pleased with some sections and we tidied up a few things,” he said.

🏆🏆The 23-year-old took gold in the event almost four years ago to the day, while he has also earned Paralympic and World Championship medals in the super combined, slalom and giant slalom.

✨️✨️It means his favoured events are still to come out in Italy

Everyone at Get Kids Going! wishes him all the very best for those events!
