🔶 Why has TLM committed so extensively to the UN and WHO in recent years?
🔶What rewards have we seen from that process for persons affected by leprosy?

Brent Morgan, our International Director, highlights these three key elements.

“I ask men: How can they understand what it feels like for a woman with disability?”

Margaret Henry has survived gender-based violence and leprosy.

Now, Margaret is a proud representative of the PNG Organisation of Persons Affected by Leprosy.🤲

It’s an honour to have her at the Civil Society Forum, part of the CRPD Conference at the UN.🇺🇳

Today we are praying for 🙏
India: Advocacy and communications

📸 Photo: TLM India met with the Chief Minister of Puducherry to discuss the repealing of discriminatory laws.

The TLM India Advocacy & Communications team works in tandem with the organisational goals, especially achieving:
✅ Zero transmission,
✅ Zero disability
✅ Zero discrimination.

To that end, the team partners with other teams and projects within The Leprosy Mission Trust India (TLMTI), as well as external stakeholders, to develop new ideas and to implement Information, Education, and Communication campaigns.

The Advocacy & Communications team represents TLMTI in domestic and international
events and contributes thought leadership to discourses and literature on leprosy
and other disabilities.

Dear Lord, speak words of life through the Advocacy & Communications team. Guide them to be a bridge between institutions and those affected by leprosy. 🙏

This month we want to explore a crisis that is simmering under the surface of our global order. 💡

The UN and WHO are facing huge crises of funding as countries demonstrate a lack of commitment to working together at this level.

In the fight to defeat leprosy and other NTDs:
♦️ Can we risk losing all that these institutions offer?
♦️How much have we already benefited from UN and WHO work?
♦️And, perhaps most importantly, do we need to fight to ensure commitment to these organisations is not further eroded?

Join us this month as we explore this theme and share your own thoughts in the comments!

What is it like to serve people affected by leprosy at one of the biggest hospitals in Nepal? 💡

We asked this to Smuitra, a Senior Nurse who is part of TLM Nepal. 🙏
She told us how she tries to help people experience God’s love and care through her work.

Namaste, Smuitra!
