Our Story.
The UCL IDEA Society, part of the larger IDEAS Globally organisation, is a student-led community that equips aspiring social entrepreneurs with the skills and hands-on experience needed to tackle important development issues. The larger IDEAS Globally organisation was founded by James Lavender, a former UCL student, following the creation of his first social enterprise in China. Since its founding, our UCL community has played a very important role in the development and growth of the organisation.
Within the UCL IDEA Society, we provide social entrepreneurship training, as well as the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on our various initiatives. Our members currently work on three enterprises based in China, Myanmar and Nepal, focusing on issues involving education, healthcare, media literacy and entrepreneurship. We even offer fully-funded trips to these destinations to our most committed society members. In addition to our enterprise work, we also run various events throughout the academic year. Previous events have included: talks with industry professionals, themed panel discussions, film festivals, community retreats, and more!
We strive to be a hub for UCL students interested in international development, innovation and entrepreneurship.
