Today we hosted Lunch & Learn sessions at Glasgow and Manchester, exploring the key trends set to shape commercial interiors in 2027 and 2028, and what they could mean for flooring specification.

The sessions covered emerging influences, industry insights and practical considerations for designers and specifiers, generating some great conversations along the way.

Read Contract Flooring Journal Magazine’s interview with Kate Burnett (Director of Product and Strategy Development at Milliken). CFJ Editor David Strydom and Kate met in Milliken’s London showroom during Clerkenwell Design Week, some of the main takeaways included:
• The future of flooring depends on creating practical circular economy solutions that work not just for manufacturers and clients, but for contractors too.
• How contractors have a vital role to play in ensuring flooring materials remain in a reuse and recycling loop rather than being lost to landfill.
• Adhesive-free installation as a key driver of reuse because it allows products to be uplifted cleanly without damaging either the carpet tile or the subfloor.

We're honoured to have been awarded Sustainable Business of the Year at the Wigan Borough Business Awards.

This recognition is a proud moment for our team and reflects our long-standing commitment to responsible manufacturing, innovation and environmental stewardship.

As we celebrate 40 years of manufacturing in Wigan, this award acknowledges the progress we continue to make, from investing in renewable electricity and carbon reduction initiatives to advancing circularity through reuse and lower-carbon product design.

How do we make reuse a practical reality in commercial interiors?

That was the focus of our recent panel discussion, Embedding Reuse into Design and Specification, hosted at the Milliken London showroom.

Bringing together experts from design, manufacturing, workplace consultancy, deconstruction and project delivery, the panel explored both the opportunities and practical challenges of embedding reuse into commercial interiors. From early design decisions and stakeholder collaboration to specification, aesthetics and implementation, the discussion highlighted what it will take to make reuse a more mainstream part of project delivery.

Day one of is done... and what a day it's been.

After a rainy start in Mykonos, the sun came out and so did the inspiration. From neuroinclusion and workplace engagement with HOK and the University of Cambridge, to exploring how colour and materiality shape global workplace identity for Bloomberg, the conversations have been thought-provoking, insightful and packed with fresh perspectives. We even finished the day discussing whether brands have a sound and whether spaces should too.

Alongside an incredible line-up of speakers, we've had brilliant conversations with designers, specifiers and workplace experts about what makes Milliken different. Sustainability in action, circularity, design, performance, innovation... and yes, we were even described as "sexy" at one point. We'll definitely take that.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined today's discussions. We're leaving with plenty of ideas, new connections and lots to think about.

We’re proud to share that Milliken has been shortlisted as a finalist for Sustainable Business of the Year at the

The recognition reflects our long-standing commitment to responsible manufacturing and innovation. As we celebrate 40 years of manufacturing in Wigan, we continue to combine local production with environmental stewardship, including the use of renewable electricity, robust carbon and energy management practices, and sourcing more than 50% of our raw materials within a 60-mile radius of our manufacturing site. 

Our commercial flooring solutions incorporate recycled and lower-carbon materials, including acoustic cushion backing containing 95% recycled content, as well as ECONYL® and Thrive Matter® yarns. We also continue to advance circularity through initiatives focused on material reuse, waste reduction and extending product life cycles.

Being recognised alongside other businesses making a positive impact across the borough is a real honour, and a testament to the dedication of our associates in Wigan and beyond.
