Did you know you can honour a loved one’s Guiding story?

The tribute space on our website allows you to share and celebrate the impact of someone special who was part of Girlguiding. It’s a place to reflect on their guiding journey and the moments that mattered most.

You can share memories, stories or reflections that help recognise the difference they made.
To contribute, you can add your memory directly or email it to [email protected] for us to upload on your behalf.

☀️ As weather warnings are in place across much of England and Wales, it’s important to consider how to keep safe in the sun and heat at your unit meetings.

If you’re not sure, all leaders should please be following the UKHSA advice for their area, which can be found here: UKHSA issues red heat-health alerts across England - https://www.gov.uk/government/news/ukhsa-issues-red-heat-health-alerts-across-england

All leaders should:
1. Make sure everyone brings a drink and has lots of hydration breaks. Don’t forget to refill water bottles too!
2. Make sure everyone is wearing loose clothing (t-shirt but no hoodies!).
3. If you’re going outside, make sure you have lots of shade - hats and suncream should be used even in the evening.
4. Consider changing activity to something quieter with less running around.
5. Consider if any volunteers or young members are likely to be extra vulnerable in the heat when deciding if your meeting will go ahead.

The decision to cancel or go ahead with unit meetings is one that should be made locally, depending both on temperature and on what’s planned.

If you want more ideas for keeping cool at camp, we have this blog post available for you too: https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/what-we-do/blog/how-to-camp-in-hot-weather
