Can you believe just two of us moved 1 TON of wood chips—over 50 wheelbarrow trips each! Legs are jelly, backs are toast, but the plot’s never looked better. All in a day’s work on the allotment. Hard graft, fresh air, and serious satisfaction 🍏🌽

Progress report! It’s been absolutely beautiful working on this site. Some of the hardest gardening I’ve ever had to do, yet the most rewarding! The plans are really coming along, I think I’m setting up the hammock this week 💚🍀🥒🌳🐛🍃

We’ve made some absolutely incredible progress with this plot! So far we have a mulberry tree, over 20 raspberry bushes, 2 blackcurrant bushes, 1 random rhubarb plant,1 apple tree, 20 spring onions and 20 bulbs of garlic!

Also… our greenhouse has another 50 varieties of seedlings, flowers, fruits and vegetables. This season is going to be amazing 🌽 🍇 🥒

We are so proud to be part of the Neighbourly platform, connecting surplus food to local charities and ensuring it reaches those who need it most. Since we began delivering fresh food on 07/08/2024, we’ve hit an incredible milestone—over 600 meals delivered to the public! This work is at the heart of what we do, and our team couldn’t be happier.

The Teams Programme - End of programme celebration! Nottingham College The King's Trust

Gedling Youth and Community Hub supported 14 young people people during their volunteer phase, of a 12 week project. During this time they volunteered their time to support the works at GYCH, they painted, worked on the community garden and helped organise the space. The young people truly stepped up and the results were outstanding. The room has been transformed and I am incredibly grateful to have been part of this. The young people worked amazingly hard and has some fantastic staff leading the way. A personal thanks to for reaching out and including us in this great project!

Recently, Francis Rodrigues (Chairman of GYCH) and I attended Notts County Football Club for the end-of-programme celebration. It was a heartwarming experience as the young people spoke passionately about their personal journeys, challenges they’ve faced and the opportunities they’ve embraced through the team programme. What an event! We’re excited to continue working with you all in the near future.
