Today is Esperanto Day, celebrating 139 years since the Tsarist censor in Imperial Russia gave permission to publish what would become known as “la Unua Libro”.
To mark the day, we at the Esperanto Association of Britain have published a special book ... in English! It's called “Zamenhof Street”, and is a translation by Humphrey Tonkin of an earlier work by the Polish journalist and Esperantist Roman Dobrzyński, based on his interviews with Louis-Christophe Zaleski-Zamenhof, the only grandson of the creator of Esperanto.
It provides tonnes of information from Esperanto history, as well as first-person accounts of being around the next generation of Zamenhofs.
You can find it on Amazon and other similar sites. Universala Esperanto-Asocio already has copies, which they'll be selling at the Universala Kongreso in Graz. We've published both hardcover and paperback versions on the same day. Here's a sample: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BkB__4xBtHQASCVCC_WHdqECBLtRxeGE/view?usp=drive_link
If you're in the UK and want to get your hands on a hardcover for £20 (usual price is £25), please read my next comment for details.
