Ahead of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Day on 27 June, we have posted our new blog ‘When Trauma Doesn’t Resolve: Understanding PTSD at Work’ by guest contributor, Dr Judith Bird, Head of Mental Health Services, Medigold Health. This is the second blog in the series.

“Trauma exposure does not automatically lead to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Of all people exposed to a potentially traumatic event, approximately 5.6% go on to develop PTSD. It is a specific clinical condition — not the inevitable consequence of a difficult experience — and it requires a specific response. Understanding what PTSD actually is, and what it isn’t, can be very helpful for a manager or HR professional dealing with these situations.”

Men’s Health Week UK (organised by the Men’s Health Forum) is running from Monday 15 to Sunday 21 June 2026. The week aims to raise awareness of men’s health and to encourage all men to seek help to address any health concerns that they may be experiencing.

We believe that good health means being mentally and physically well, and we advocate for everyone seeking help when they need it. We do this by raising awareness of mental health, encouraging everyone to start a conversation about it, and for organisations to implement effective interventions to address it, so that, together, we can end the stigma that surrounds it.

We advocate for change through responding to government inquiries, working with researchers to provide evidence on effective interventions, contributing to mental health initiatives and by working in collaboration with our Supporters to build positive mental health in and through work.

We believe that one of the best ways to create long lasting change within an organisation, is by educating and informing a workforce. This is why we encourage everyone in our community to engage with tailored training for employees, managers and mental health champions; helping everyone understand their roles and responsibilities when it comes to mental wellbeing at work.

World Wellbeing Week is running from Wednesday 24 to Tuesday 30 June 2026, and we are encouraging our Supporters to start a conversation about mental wellbeing within their own organisations and across their networks.

‘World Wellbeing Week is a global awareness week focused on improving health and wellbeing in the workplace and wider society. At work, it encourages organisations to pause, reflect, and take meaningful steps that support employee wellbeing.’

We wholeheartedly agree that wellbeing incorporates a range of diverse dimensions. This is why we work collaboratively with organisations to embed a proactive prevention strategy which empowers them to create positive mental health in and through work.

Employers have a legal duty to protect workers from stress at work by doing a risk assessment and acting on it. And yet, according to the HSE, stress, depression or anxiety accounted for 52% of work-related ill health and 62% of all working days lost due to ill health in 2024/25.

So, how can organisations create a culture of prevention, which builds positive mental health in and through work? This is what we cover in our ‘how to optimise your mental wellbeing’ blog series. We look at the common mistakes in workplace culture, what a healthy culture looks like and importantly, how to create one.

Blogs covering the actions organisations can take:

As part of our Mental Health Awareness Week activity, it is an important reminder that we, as employers, colleagues and community members, should dedicate time to learning what we can do to build positive mental health in and through work.

In our mental health blog, we examine:
• Why we don’t notice when someone experiences mental ill-health due to their work.
• What causes this situation.
• What action we can take to stop it.

The blog also provides guidance, and a suite of resources, on how to optimise workplace mental health: https://bit.ly/MinMblog25-9

Our stress awareness videos and resources cover how to spot the signs of mental ill-health, how to start a conversation, how and where to signpost support, and more: https://bit.ly/MinMresources
