I-Adopt

I-Adopt Welcome to i-Adopt. We help to create families. We assess, train and support parents for the most traumatised children.

We are based in Islington, but accept applications from parents living within a 90 minute journey to our offices. Family Futures is a contemporary adoption agency. We are specifically seeking prospective adopters who can parent children who have been traumatised by early childhood experiences and who need a loving family who can help them make sense of their past and move into a positive future to

gether. Family Futures is recognised nationally as a centre of excellence in adoption support services. We recognise that children placed for adoption today require a multi-disciplinary and intensive support programme for up to 3 years post-placement. This is negotiated with the placing local authority before a child is placed with our approved adopters. We are therefore looking for adopters who are empathic, curious, resilient and committed to becoming therapeutic parents. Such people can make the difference between a vulnerable child reaching their true potential or becoming a casualty of the care system for the rest of their childhood. We are looking for single people or couples of any cultural background, ethnicity or sexual orientation. In addition you also need to be:

Over 21
A permanent resident in the UK
Interested in parenting a child aged 4+
The primary carer should be able to take at least 6 months off work post-placement to enable the child to form an attachment
Live within a 90 minute travel radius of our offices in North London
Able to be flexible
Have the time commitment to accommodate the assessment and treatment programme

General information

We are looking for individuals or couples aged over 21, who are prepared to make a strong commitment to providing a safe emotional environment for a hurt child. Other than that, we welcome you no matter who you are. People of any cultural background, ethnicity or sexual orientation can adopt through i-Adopt. All you need is commitment to the process. But it is a big commitment. In order to ensure that you are able to have the time to do the developmental parenting required that will enable the child placed with you to form a secure attachment to you, we ask that the primary carer takes some time off work in the first year of post placement. Failing to resolve issues early on in placement can lead to difficulties and complications later on. Investing time in the early stages will make a big difference in the long run. But if you can commit, you can adopt.
