Charity based in Ealing There for parents when they need us most, because childhood can’t wait.

A registered charity, Home-start recruit and train volunteers who work with families in need, providing non judgemental, practical and emotional support in order to help build confidence and an ability to cope. The families we support experience some type of stress or difficulty which could include; isolation, bereavement, domestic violence, illness, disability or poverty.

Meet Sarah, 12 years of volunteering, and now 5K for Home-Start Ealing!
Sarah has been an incredible part of Home-Start Ealing for 12 years, giving her time to support local families when they need it most.

Now, as we celebrate our 30th anniversary, Sarah is taking on another challenge, walking the 5K to help raise essential funds for our charity. 🚶‍♀️💜

Sarah is one of our amazing team of 30 runners and walkers, representing 30 years of Home-Start Ealing supporting families across our community.

We are so grateful to Sarah, not only for taking on the 5K, but for the 12 years of time, care and commitment she has already given to Home-Start Ealing and the families we support.

Every step Sarah takes will help us continue to be there for local parents and children facing challenging times.

We want to introduce you to some of the incredible people taking on the 5k challenge for Home-Start Ealing.

Meet Ally, our Co-Chair, former home-visiting volunteer and a wonderful part of Home-Start Ealing for the past 15 years.

This year, Ally is celebrating a milestone of her own, turning 60 and taking on her very first 5K!

And what better way to celebrate than by raising funds for a charity that means so much to her?

“I’ve seen how our support gives children their childhood back.”

For 30 years, Home-Start Ealing has been there for local families facing incredibly difficult circumstances, including isolation, bereavement, illness and financial hardship.

Ally has seen first-hand the difference that the right support, at the right time, can make to a parent and their children.

So when she takes on those 5 kilometres, every step will be for Ealing’s families. 💜

⏰ Not long left to join our September volunteer course!

Have you been thinking about volunteering with Home-Start Ealing? This could be the nudge you needed. 💜

We’re looking for parents, or people with parenting experience, who could spare 2–3 hours a week to support a local family going through a challenging time.

There’s no typical Home-Start visit. You might have a cuppa & listen while a parent gets things off their chest. You might go to the park together, help them feel more confident getting out with the children, or simply be a familiar, friendly face turning up each week.

It sounds simple, but when someone is struggling, having that person alongside them can make a huge difference.

Our September preparation course is hybrid, with an online element & two in-person training days. You’ll then have ongoing support from the Home-Start Ealing team throughout your volunteering.

🏃‍♀️ 30 years. 30 runners. One incredible community. 💜

This year, Home-Start Ealing is celebrating 30 years of supporting families and children across Ealing and we’re marking this milestone by taking on the Ealing Half Marathon and Ealing Feeling 5K on Sunday 27 September.

We have an amazing team of 30 runners and walkers one representing every year Home-Start Ealing has been there for local families.

A huge THANK YOU to every single person who has signed up to take part. Whether you’re running 5K, taking on the half marathon or walking your way to the finish line, every step you take will help us raise vital funds to continue supporting families through some of their most challenging times. 💜

💜 A few hours a week. A real difference to a local family.

Sometimes what a parent needs most is simply someone alongside them.

Someone to listen. Someone to encourage them. Someone to help them get out of the house when everything feels a bit overwhelming. Someone who turns up each week and reminds them they’re not doing it all alone.

That’s what our Home-Start volunteers do. 🧡

We’re recruiting now for our next volunteer training starting in September.

Our training is hybrid, with an online element followed by two in-person training days and you’ll have ongoing support from our team throughout your time with Home-Start.

We’re looking for people who:
💜 are parents or have parenting experience
🧡 are kind, reliable & non-judgemental
💜 can usually spare 2–3 hours a week, Mon–Fri during the daytime
🧡 would like to support a family here in Ealing

You don’t need to have all the answers. Sometimes just being there, week after week, is what makes the difference.

📣 Could you give a few hours a week to a local family?

We’re looking for new Home-Start Ealing volunteers to join us this autumn.

Our volunteers visit a family at home once a week, usually for around 2–3 hours, offering practical & emotional support during a difficult time.

You don’t need to be an expert. You might spend time listening to a parent who’s feeling overwhelmed, help them get out of the house with the children, play with a little one while Mum gets something done, or simply be the friendly, reliable person who turns up each week. 💜

Our next volunteer preparation course starts in September and is hybrid, with:
🧡 an online element
💜 two in-person training days
🧡 ongoing support from the Home-Start Ealing team once you’re volunteering

We’re looking for kind, reliable people with an understanding of the ups & downs of family life.

A few hours of your time really can make a difference.
