What is , you may ask?

Every November, young people and organisations across the UK come together to celebrate , a national campaign led by the The Movement, supported by UK Youth and Volunteering Matters.

In a time of negative disruption, division, and uncertainty, shines a light on young people leading the way, taking action, challenging injustice, and driving change in their communities

It’s a week dedicated to recognising the power of youth social action, everything young people do to help others, improve their communities, and create positive change.

This year’s theme, “What Do You Stand For?”, is an invitation to pause, reflect, and speak up about the values that guide our actions.

At the Young Trustees Movement, we stand for:

Truth – by speaking up for fairness and representation.

Dignity – by ensuring every young trustee feels valued.

Justice – by challenging inequities in who holds power.

Community – by connecting young people with purpose.

Joy – by celebrating the courage and hope that fuel change.

We believe young trustees are not waiting for tomorrow, they are shaping today. We’re proud to champion their voices and be part of a movement rooted in purpose and collective action

This Trans Awareness Week, we celebrate trans and gender non-conforming people. 🧡

It is also a moment to recognise the barriers many trans people still face in governance and wider society, and to reaffirm our commitment to creating spaces where trans people are seen, safe and able to lead with confidence.

At the Young Trustees Movement, we are a trans-positive movement. We believe trans people belong in governance and deserve belonging in every space where decisions are made.

We also want to highlight the brilliant work happening across the sector to advance inclusion, including Kevin’s work at Q***r Trustees, which champions LGBTQ+ visibility in governance.

To all trans and gender non-conforming young people:

Your voice matters. Your leadership matters. You shape the future of governance.

Weekly Opportunity Spotlight – Become a Trustee and shape change 🌟

Sense 🤝

A leading disability charity supporting people with complex needs to live connected, fulfilling lives. They are recruiting up to four Trustees across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with experience in areas like finance, social care, campaigning, fundraising or safeguarding. Deadline: 7 December 2025

Peak District Mosaic 🏞️

A charity that creates and sustains engagement between the Peak District National Park and new audiences, especially Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities. They are recruiting three Trustee roles: Secretary (voluntary), Treasurer, and Member of the Activities & Communications Committee to help shape and grow their work. Deadline: 1 December 2025

Love Rowing (British Rowing Charitable Foundation) 🚣‍♀️

A charity using rowing to create life-changing opportunities for people who face barriers to sport. They are looking for an Honorary Treasurer (Trustee) with charity finance expertise to help guide their financial strategy and impact. Deadline: 25 November 2025

Before Becoming a Parent (B4BP) 👨‍👩‍👧

A charity campaigning for mandatory parenthood education in all schools. They are recruiting a Publicity Trustee to help raise their profile, shape messaging and champion their work with schools and the wider public.

An Update from the Young Trustees Movement 📢

We are excited to share that we are now able to offer a limited number of sponsored places on Board Boost 2026, our six-month trustee accelerator programme for young people aged 30 and under.

Board Boost supports young people who are already trustees or looking to join a board soon. It offers a values-driven, peer-learning environment designed to build confidence, strengthen governance knowledge and remove the barriers young people often face in decision-making spaces.

Through a blend of online modules and an in-person training session, Board Boost helps young trustees step into their roles with clarity, connection and real support behind them.

If you are a young person or a charity for whom cost is a barrier, you can now apply for a sponsored place.

Applications close: Sunday 30 November, midnight

🚀 Trustees’ Week officially kicks off today!

It’s time to celebrate the people shaping decisions, driving impact, and keeping charities true to their purpose, and we’re starting strong 💪

We’ll be joined by Kemi Oleyede a fourth-year PhD researcher in Emerging Chemical Contaminants at Imperial College London, a trustee at Pride in STEM, and a freelance illustrator. Kemi will be joining our Q&A to share their experience and insights on representation, science, and leadership.

🌱 Stepping into governance as a young trustee can feel daunting. Where do you start when you want to make an impact but are new to the space?

For Agno, a 22-year-old member of WWF-UK’s Impact Committee, Board Boost made all the difference:
