In collaboration with the Anglo-Somali Society, Kayd presents the launch of Dr. Annette Hoffmann’s Knowing by Ear: Listening to Voice Recordings with African Prisoners of War in German Camps (1915-1918) (Duke University Press, 2024). Dr. Hoffmann is a researcher and curator at the Institute for African Studies at the University of Cologne. She engages with acoustic collections as part of the colonial archive, with orature, relational knowledge production, and colonial history.
