This week's Parshat, Naso, begins by delineating the duties of those who carried the Tabernacle of G-d. The Tabernacle was where G-d's presence rested during the days of our ancestors. The Book of John tells us that Jesus was the embodiment of the Tabernacle, it tells us that 'The Word [Jesus] became flesh and dwelt [lit. tabernacled] among us.' (John 1:14). Jesus was the presence of G-d come to live with humanity in bodily form! Let's celebrate that truth this Shabbos. Shabbat shalom!

Uncertainty is one of the hardest things that we can experience. Fear for the future, anxiety about making the wrong choices or wasting opportunities. Concerns about health, finances or family. All of these are real and Scripture never tells us to expect a trouble-free life, but this weeks Psalm, reminds us that "the LORD’s throne is in heaven." (Psalm 11:4) He remains in control, He is loving and powerful and His throne is established forever. "In the LORD I take refuge." (Psalm 11:1).

From Passover to Pentecost:https://jewsforjesus.org/blog/from-passover-to-pentecost

Though various Christian denominations commemorate Pentecost, many forget that it was a Jewish holiday before the Church was established. The name Pentecost comes from the Greek word for fifty, but the Jewish name is Shavuot (meaning weeks or sevens). Traditional Jews of Jesus' time celebrated Pente...

Today is Pentecost Sunday, where Christians all over the world celebrate the beginning of the Jesus movement when the very first Jews for Jesus received the Spirit of G-d. But did you know that Pentecost is originally a Jewish holiday? https://jewsforjesus.org/learn/the-jewish-roots-of-the-feast-of-pentecost

Pentecost is widely celebrated by Christians, but it was originally a Jewish festival called Shavuot recalling the giving of the law in Exodus.

This weeks Shabbos reading is Bamidbar, the opening to the Book of Numbers. The Hebrew word, and name of the book, Bamidbar comes from the opening verse of Numbers and means 'in the wilderness.' For many, particularly those in the Jewish community, this feels like a wilderness season. A long and arduous journey through a frightening land. But notice what it is that happens, in the wilderness: "Adonai spoke to Moses ain the wilderness of Sinai" Num 1:1a. G-d was there in the wilderness with them, speaking to them, leading them. This Sabbath, let us rest in the fact that even in a dry dessert, springs well just beneath the surface, which, if we will only dig a little, will fountain into everlasting life.

'Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”' - John 37-38

This week's Psalm, Psalm 10, begins with these words of Lament: "Why, O LORD, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?" Psalm 10:1-2. Sometimes we can feel scared to pour out our hearts this honestly before a Holy G-d, but words like this invite us to do exactly that. G-d has wide enough shoulders to bear the laments of David, of Job, even of Christ on the cross, and He is big enough to carry your laments too. You can read more about this in article by one of our staff members, which can be found here: https://www.e-n.org.uk/comment/why-are-so-many-jews-atheists/

"Why are so many Jews atheists?"I hear this a lot.

Next week's parsha is Emor which, amongst other things, speaks of the importance of sacred time. Jesus reminds us that the Sabbath is a gift, a time to reconnect with G-d, friends and family and creation. Shabbos is a weekly reset that can give us a deeper rhythm of intentional rest in our lives. It is a gift - enjoy it this week. Gut Shabbos!
