Tomorrow is and we’re proud to share how the College is raising awareness of air pollution and its impact on child health.

🌍 Firstly, announcing the launch of our new Global Operations Programme – Urban Ambient air quality and maternal, newborn and child health. In partnership with paediatric societies in Nepal, Nigeria and South Africa, we’re working together to amplify voices and drive action for cleaner air.

💭 We’ve also developed the Air Pollution Companion, a ‘one stop shop’ to learn about air pollution and how to integrate it into your practice, created in partnership with Clinical Fellows and RCPCH policy experts.

🤝 Finally, don’t miss the top tips from our RCPCH &Us Climate Changers, a group of children and young people across the UK committed to tackling climate change.

We’re proud to share that our latest paper ‘Reflections on a global partnership for perinatal quality improvement in Rwanda’ has been published in BMJ Paediatrics Open.

This paper highlights the value of long-term partnerships and the role of implementation science in strengthening health systems to improve newborn care. It draws on a major collaboration between RCPCH Global, the Rwanda Paediatric Association, UNICEF, and the Rwanda Biomedical Center.

This is just the first of two papers, with our second quantitative paper coming soon.

Has your baby been cared for in a neonatal unit in the past three years?

We’re looking for photos that tell a story about your baby’s care in hospital to feature in our upcoming report and parent/carer guide for the National Neonatal Audit Programme (NNAP).

This is your chance to get involved as we help improve the care that babies born premature or unwell receive. If you work in neonatal care, please help by encouraging parents and carers to take part.

Deadline: 06 July | 17:00

Great to see our president, Professor Steve Turner, at this week - joining James Bethell, Lisa Sha and Caroline Temmick to explore how we can partner to support equitable vaccination coverage for children across the UK.

The panel discussed the power of integrated policy, clinical leadership and patient advocacy to protect every child, no matter where they live.

Steve also spotlighted the RCPCH Vaccination Report, highlighting the barriers children and families face to get vaccinated, but also the opportunity for change. A key takeaway: we need to bring the vaccination to the child, not the other way around.

“This is a moment of extraordinary possibility for children’s heath. The real opportunity isn’t the technology itself, it’s what we choose to do with it”

RCPCH is excited to launch a brand-new podcast series this week: Child Health Research

To kick off our first episode (Digital Health Technologies) Nish Talawila - Head of Research and Evidence, is joined by Professor Paul Dimitri - Director of Research and Innovation at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

Paul will be exploring how digital tools, data and artificial intelligence can help address rising physical and mental needs, shifting paediatrics from reactive to anticipatory, personalised care.
