KANTOU VILLAGE CYPRUS – Community leader Sophoclis Georgiou

A dog was reported to Sophoclis Georgiou, by a member of the public on the 28th Dec 2022, that he was poisoned and needed urgent medical attention. The dog was right in front of the Community offices in Kantou, a few meters from their front door.

His response was one of complete disbelieve
‘ I am not picking him up to take him to the vets, leave him there to die and then we can pick him up and throw him away’

We have written this in a polite way, the Cypriot words he used are totally disgusting !!

You can see in the video the state this poor dog was in, and this man responsible under THE Law In Cyprus to provide Medical care for the dog, didn’t give a damn and simply allowed him to remain there, to die a very slow death……
The law is clear, he has to provide emergency vet care to any stray in his community and he is fully responsible for the first 15 days, but of course, he is only an ignorant peasant, with no heart or compassion.

This is not the first time he has refused to help a stray in his community, the same response always, he doesn’t’ care and makes absolutely no effort to help, It’s never his problem !!

Enough !! Let’s make sure he knows what everyone now thinks of him, and ensure that he pays to cover all this dog’s needs, as he is currently fighting for his life at the Vets.

Please bombard all the following emails, with your thoughts and place pressure, that very serious measures are taken for this dog and all future dogs found in Kantou, also mention his name Sophoklis Georgiou of Kantou Limassol Cyprus .

Why do we need Zoos in Cyprus ?
They have no idea what they are doing, it’s living hell for all animals in that place.

This deer was caught in the wire fencing and died at Limassol zoo.

There is a video in the attached article.

This is a disgrace and Limassol Municipality are to blame in full, for the death of this innocent animal and the suffering of so many animals in that zoo.

Shelters in Cyprus are bursting with stray dogs

Summer holidays increase the strays as is cheaper to dump a dog than pay for a dog hotel

End of the pandemic has also resulted in people getting rid of their dog as they don’t need them any more to have permission to leave their house for a walk

Thousands of puppies, as no one believes in spaying their dog, easier to have a litter, throw the puppies away or give them away and then they become strays

Animal welfare and the dog law in Cyprus is not enforced by the authorities

International financial pressures have decreased adoptions abroad and in Cyprus as well as Brexit adding extra pressure and lowering the adoptions

More dogs than ever before are now on the streets, no shelter places to take them

Vaggelis Tavern in Protoras, yesterday poised 32 cats and kittens and continued to boast that this is just the start

If he thinks killing innocent animals is justified, then we think writing him a negative comment and review on his page, is also justified

This is unacceptable and we hope the police takes this seriously for a change

If only the Cyprus authorities just followed through a few reported cases!!

We might then see a few importers placed in jail for placing the Cypriot public in danger of imported Rabies !!

Is money more important?

The island that has run out of dog’s and puppies in shelters, the streets, fields, farms and cages !! IMPORT UNDER AGE PUPPIES

Rather than adopting from shelters, Cypriots lined the pockets of pet shops and Puppy Farm Breeders in Eastern Europe… these puppies are born in terrible conditions, with many illnesses and female dogs that are just breeding machines

THEY fly them into the island at a very young age, with one vaccination, made up passport, and no rabies vaccination.

No one would have a 15 weeks old puppy with one vaccination , this is the legal minimum age of puppies flying !! Puppies have their first vaccination at 8 weeks, so they falsify passports, and fly them, pretending they are 15 weeks old !!

Airports and customs in Cyprus turn a blind eye, so this pet shop probably had 10 plus puppies flown to Cyprus at start of March…. Did Vet services check them at the airport? Has anyone visited the pet shop to check the age of the puppies?
The only real thing they have is a microchip

People OF Cyprus, stop believing you are buying a pedigree!!! These puppies are from the worse puppy farms , they are not old enough to fly, they haven’t been checked for illnesses and you are encouraging for this to continue and dogs and puppies to suffer
