Our first ever Street Legends Chess Cup team tournament is done ♟️

A huge congratulations to the yasqueen.chessclub who took home the trophy after three brilliant rounds of chess.

A massive shout out as well to our runners-up: the teams from Museum of Homelessness, The Abolitionist Chess Club and 999 Club. It was a joy to have you all involved.

+ thank you to everyone who came down to play, spectate or stop in for a game. Across the day we saw over 50 games played!!

A special thank you to alphachess.co.uk for all their support in helping organise the tournament.

We’re back tomorrow for the Open Singles Tournament, where one player will walk away with £200, alongside a host of prizes from Museum of Homelessness.

There are still a few spaces left, so if you’d like to play, register via the link in our bio!!

For local residents as the school holidays approach, is this really the environment and example we want the young children of the town to see?

I understand the need for having somewhere to live and the struggle this person and his friends are facing but unfortunately being high and subsequently out of it on drugs and drink is not something I wish for young children to see when visiting the town park. Before anyone comments, he was not sunbathing! This also poses a safety risk due to camp fires in dry conditions resulting in the fire brigade having to be called.

It would be good if an alternative site away from children and the town park which is currently being reviewed for enhancements could be found.
