The Salvation Army’s international Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Response team has launched an exhibition of its work in Gallery 101 at International Headquarters (IHQ), London.

Unveiled on 30 July 2026, the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Move of Hope brings together stories from across The Salvation Army world. Through the experiences of survivors and the communities supporting them, the exhibition demonstrates that freedom is possible when people choose compassion over indifference and action over silence.

The principal, Dr Evelyn K Andolo describes Joytown as more than a place of learning. It is a place of transformation: ‘Every child who comes here arrives with potential’, she explains. ‘Our role is to create an environment where that potential can grow academically, socially and personally. We don’t focus on what a child cannot do. We focus on what they can become.’

For many students, arriving at Joytown marks a turning point. Children with disabilities often face significant barriers to education, from inaccessible infrastructure to social stigma that limits opportunity. Too often, they are excluded or underestimated.

Joytown challenges that reality. By offering accessible facilities, specialised support and a culture of inclusion, the school creates a space where students can thrive. Perhaps most importantly, it challenges perceptions, both within the school and beyond it.

Following fruitful discussions at the International Conference of Leaders in March, General Lyndon Buckingham has appointed a Commission on Membership, Covenant and Belonging (CMCB).

The Commission's principal purpose, as outlined in its Terms of Reference, is 'to analyse and determine The Salvation Army's membership structures in alignment with Army doctrine, Orders and Regulations and other official Army publications'.

Its work will be guided by a commitment to doctrinal fidelity, covenantal integrity, holiness formation, mission integration, ecclesiological clarity, global unity with contextual wisdom, and youth and intergenerational formation.
