Our story

Our activities are grouped under four key pillars:

Delivering entrepreneurial development programmes;

Researching the state of entrepreneurship and how to unlock potential in neglected groups, communities and locations;

Building thriving entrepreneurial communities;

Engaging and informing policy makers and the public.

Our flagship programme is the NEF Fast Track. This one-year development scheme is for aspiring young entrepreneurs and builds the UK’s top startup talent pool. Since 2011, it has developed over 300 young startup leaders. Over 40% have gone on to become founders, collectively raising £56m in investment and creating 1,500+ jobs.

We are building an inclusive future for the next generation of UK entrepreneurs.

We have advocated in-prison entrepreneurship programmes, uncovered how entrepreneurs are reviving seaside towns, championed refugee entrepreneurs and shattered negative stereotypes affecting women entrepreneurs. We also run the Incubator and Accelerator Network and the Refugee Entrepreneurship Network – advocacy and best-practice groups that work to increase the quality and scale of support available for entrepreneurs.

We help Britain maintain a world-leading startup ecosystem.

Our organisation was created by well-known business leaders – The Centre was born after a merger between the think tank of the same name, founded by entrepreneur Luke Johnson, and The New Entrepreneurs Foundation that was launched by Oliver Pawle and Dee Stirling with support from Lord Davies of Abersoch and Sir Nigel Rudd.
