We are pleased to announce that UNRISD Board Member and esteemed scholar Professor Naila Kabeer has been appointed to the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres' High-Level Expert Group on Beyond GDP metrics. Her longstanding contributions to social policy, gender justice, and development economics will be invaluable in shaping more inclusive and sustainable approaches to measuring progress.

Bridging Gaps: Diplomacy and Finding Peace When We Disagree.

Imagine we’re all living in the land of Many Voices, a place where people are diverse but share a common love for conversation. One day, a misunderstanding causes a crack in the Peace activities.

Bridge—the structure that connects all the towns and fosters unity. The challenge ahead is to repair the bridge, not with bricks and glue, but with understanding, kind words, and teamwork. This was the heart of the Peace Adventurers programme, an innovative educational initiative designed for children aged 6 to 10. Led by the creative mind of Tchi Mbouani, the day's activities were centred around fostering diplomacy, conflict resolution, and emotional awareness.

Girls Not Brides celebrates the Republic of Djibouti for making history as the first African Union Member State to officially sign the African Union Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (AU-CEVAWG).

The signing, led by 𝗛.𝗘. 𝗠𝘀. 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝗢𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝗲𝗻, Minister of Women and Family, in the presence of a high-level African Union delegation led by 𝗛.𝗘. 𝗠𝘀. 𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗮 𝗗𝗶𝗼𝗽, AU Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security, and joined by representatives from the African Women Leaders Network, marks a defining moment in Africa’s journey toward justice, equality, and protection for all. It also reflects a 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁.

At Girls Not Brides, we believe Djibouti’s signature is a commitment to action, and we stand ready to work with national, regional, and continental partners to ensure this leads to real, lasting change for girls everywhere.
