Hackney Winter Night Shelter has been operating in the borough for 25 years. We provide a meal and a bed for those who would otherwise be sleeping rough. No longer just a Winter night shelter - we are open all year round - both our main shelter and our wom

en's shelter. Our Advocate and Support Workers help our guests to find stable accommodation and offer the support they need so that they do not return to the streets.

That's right, we're back with another poetry jam at Stokey Bookshop! 🎤 Join an evening of spoken word from friends, volunteers and supporters of Hackney Night Shelter. We have a super lineup of poets performing and we will also open the floor for an open mic session too for anyone who would like to give it ago! (Places limited, sign up by contacting [email protected] or let us know when you arrive)

Thanks to our amazing team of runners for raising over £50,000 at the 👏 and to our fab volunteer crew for bringing the vibes, cakes and cheer 🎉 its one of our biggest events of the year, with a team of 140 people running for routes out of homelessness. All the funds raised will go towards keeping Hackney Night Shelter open - with your help we can support over 200 people experiencing homelessness with emergency shelter and assistance into longer term housing. In recent shelter news, we've had two more guests move on positively. One of them was a 51-year-old man who had been rough sleeping in Tower Hamlets before coming to the shelter. On Monday he was very pleased to move into a place in Mile End. 

And if you stayed till the end we also had a visit from some of the team over at Bercleys who raised £1,170 for the shelter through their website campaign! 🌟

5 days to go till the 2026!! This year Hackney Night Shelter has a team of 140 people running for routes out of homelessness 👟 at the weekend we had our final team run before the big day. As an independent charity, we rely on our community to keep providing emergency shelter and support into longer term housing for over 200 people each year - head to the link in bio to support our amazing team and help continue this vital work 💙

Join the crew from Hackney Night Shelter tomorrow at the National Housing Demo! 

Rough sleeping has reached a record high, with 4,793 people recorded in a single night in England. Thousands more people aren't included in these figures who are also facing homelessness.

As one of very few shelters in London open all year round offering free emergency accommodation, every day we see the impact of years of austerity, the cost of living crisis and lack of affordable housing pushing more people into homelessness. We need urgent and systemic change to address the scale of the housing crisis.

That's why we're joining organisations from across the country to call for rent controls, council homes and affordable housing. See you at Soho Square 1pm! Look out for our banner, we'll be in the homeless bloc with and more
