We had over 200 residents and local leaders in the Holloway community come together last Friday to celebrate the neighbourhood's past, present and future!
With a mad tea party at the Old Fire Station, featuring local musicians, poets and performers, magic shows at the Odeon and victorian actors at Selbys, there was plenty to get stuck into. Attendees were invited to explore their local area and the festivities using a map, designed by local artist Dayna Figueroa and staff at the Holloway Neighbourhood Group, featuring favourite local eateries, shops, and all the weird and wonderful novelties that make Holloway a unique hub of culture and community.
Our CEO, Eira Gibson, summarised our event perfectly - 'For over 40 years we’ve been at the heart of Holloway, so it was an absolute joy to spill out onto the streets and celebrate such a unique but often overlooked part of Islington. As well as all the amazing artists who performed around the town centre, I’m inspired by the children of Pakeman School who had brilliant ideas to turn the empty buildings into things that would add to the area (no more betting, vapes or chain coffee shops). Watch this space for, or (even better!) get involved and help make more exciting events that bring us together, celebrate the good things we’ve got and ultimately be proud of where we live.'
