Together we organise Masses, devotional events, and training in Latin, Chant, and the celebration of Mass; we promote the ancient liturgical tradition in the Catholic press, online, and elsewhere, and we represent the needs and views of our members and supporters to the Catholic hierarchy.

The annual summer school brings young Catholics aged 11 to 17 together for a week-long residency, focused on the traditional teachings and liturgy of the Church

Bookings for the 16th annual LMS Pilgrimage to Walsingham close in 2 weeks, on Saturday 15th August — the feast of the Assumption

Taking place over the bank holiday weekend (27-30 August), this year's event looks set to be the biggest to date, with pilgrims from across the country (and further afield) joining us to pray for the conversion of England. Don’t miss out — join us by booking through the link here: lms.org.uk/walsingham-walking-pilgrimage

Pilgrims may undertake the full 53.5-mile walking pilgrimage from Ely to Walsingham or join the annual Walsingham Day Pilgrimage.

There are also pre-pilgrimages starting from London and Cambridge. The London leg has sold out, but a few spots remain on the Cambridge-Ely leg which adds an additional day to the journey. Booking for this is through the same link.

All pilgrims convene in Walsingham for High Mass and devotions in the Priory Grounds, the site of the ancient shrine.

Throughout the pilgrimage, participants will be offered:

➡️ The daily celebration of High Mass and Compline according to the 1962 Missal

➡️ The presence and pastoral support of priests, seminarians and religious accompanying the pilgrimage

➡️ Confessions throughout the pilgrimage

➡️ A specially prepared Pilgrim’s Handbook, containing prayers, devotions, chants and hymns

➡️ Freshly prepared breakfasts and evening meals provided by our dedicated volunteer catering team

➡️ Support vehicles to transport luggage and assist pilgrims along the route

If you are unable to complete the full walking pilgrimage, you are warmly invited to take part in the annual Walsingham Day Pilgrimage on Sunday 30 August 2026. Travelling by coach from London, Day Pilgrims join the walkers for the final stages of the pilgrimage before taking part in the concluding ceremonies at Walsingham.

We’re also in need of volunteers! Anyone who signs up to volunteer will receive a free ticket to the pilgrimage. We need:

➡️ Drivers (license category D) to drive vans

➡️ Experienced chant singers. Each chapter has its own cantor to lead the singing (hymns, chants, songs) on the road; these also form the schola for Mass.

The Latin Mass Society was delighted to join WeBelieve Festival last weekend for their annual event at Oscott Seminary!

As well as sponsoring the Southwell Consort to sing at the Traditional Mass and Offices we also had a stall manned by our Chairman Dr Shaw and volunteers - many thanks to all who stopped by!

The highlight of the weekend was a splendid TLM in Oscott Chapel, with a packed-out congregation - Deo gratias!

Another excellent Chant training day in Our Lady of the Assumption, Warwick Street, last Saturday. Do come along to our next events: Holy Rood Oxford 26th Sept, and back to Warwick Street 19th December

Starting last December, we decided to make a big push with Gregorian Chant, with the help of our friends at the Schola Gregoriana and the Portsmouth Gregorian Chant Course. The Gregorian Chant Network advertises all these events through the Latin Mass Society

Gregorian Chant was supposed to be boosted by Vatican II - it was to have the 'first place' in Mass - but instead it fell into the abyss. The difficulties of integrating it with vernacular liturgy proved to be formidable, but it was preserved in the TLM

The Latin Mass Society has chant as a core charitable aim, & we want more people to discover it with the help of real experts. Our events enable people to appreciate chant more fully, expand the pool of people who could consider singing in chant choirs, & raise standards

Just over two weeks left to book a place on this year's Walsingham Pilgrimage - deadline Saturday 15th August, Feast of the Assumption

It looks set to be our biggest to date! Each day will have High Mass in the traditional Roman Rite, devotions, chants, hymns and songs, to honour Our Lady of Walsingham and pray for the conversion of England

We're also in need of volunteers! Anyone who signs up to volunteer will receive a free ticket to the pilgrimage. We need:

➡️Drivers, to pick up pilgrims who drop out, & luggage vans and mobile kitchen
➡️Experienced chant singers. Each chapter has its own cantor to lead the singing (hymns, chants, songs) on the road; these also form the schola for Mass.
➡️Social media volunteer, on the road. We like to keep in touch with our supporters on the road, and this is best done by someone who hasn't got other duties
