On this week’s Gardening with the RHS podcast, we’re celebrating British Flowers Week! 🌸

Artisan flower farmer and author Georgie Newbery joins us to share how years of campaigning are giving British cut flower growers a stronger voice and greater visibility nationwide. She also offers seasonal advice on what to sow and grow right now.

We also explore the sweet pea extravaganza at RHS Garden Wisley with National Sweet Pea Society President Roger Parsons, who shares his top recommendations, drawing on decades of experience.

Today we've unveiled plans for a new RHS wellbeing garden at The Royal Oldham Hospital that will support staff, patients and the wider environment - This will be our 17th garden in partnership with the NHS 🙌

Created in partnership with the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust and NorthCare Charity, Royal Oldham will see award-winning landscape designer Adam Frost work closely with hospital staff to reimagine its 1930s Fountain Garden.

Previously laid to lawn, the space will be redesigned to introduce climate resilient planting including Amsonia hubrichtii (Arkansas bluestar), Geranium nodosum (knotted cranesbill), and Eupatorium dubium (‘Little Joe’), along with new seating areas shaded by trees to encourage people to pause and unwind 🌳

Find out more:

A cherished centrepiece in the grounds of Royal Oldham Hospital, the existing Fountain Garden will be transformed into a space that promotes the wellbeing of staff and patients, while also becoming a social hub for the local community

Take a sneak peek at some of the gardens coming to the all new RHS Sandringham Flower Show 👀

🌱 The RHS Crafted from Nature Garden
Rooted in the landscapes, materials and craftsmanship of Norfolk, the RHS Crafted from Nature Garden, designed by Laura Strand and Sam Stark-Kemp, celebrates the county’s distinctive beauty and identity. This immersive, meadow-inspired space will be filled with soft, naturalistic planting and handcrafted features, including a tactile wall made by local master thatcher Nick Walker using Norfolk water reed.

🌱 Mindful Chef’s Gathering
Reimagining a traditional orchard of apple, plum and nut trees in a smaller English suburban garden, this Show Garden designed by Sophie Godber, will showcase sustainable features, including quiet spaces for nature, innovative wildlife boxes, a bespoke green roof shed, a natural pond and a native hedgerow.

🌱 RHS Head Gardeners Show Feature
Honouring the head gardeners across RHS partner gardens, this Show Feature created by award-winning designer Dave Green, will pay tribute to the talented horticulturists who care for these green spaces across Britain, as represented by planting features representing the diverse range of landscapes across the UK.

There's less than a month to go until the new RHS Sandringham Flower Show, held from 22 until 26 July in the grounds of the royal family-owned Sandringham Estate. Find out more about what to see at the Show: https://staging.rhs.org.uk/shows-events/rhs-sandringham-flower-show/highlights

The RHS and BBC The One Show’s Growing Together Award is back for 2026!

The Award shines a light on community gardening groups that are transforming green or unloved spaces into a thriving community garden, benefitting the whole community and encouraging people to try gardening for the first time 💚

We're particularly keen to hear about projects that involve a diverse range of people. We would love to hear from those traditionally under-represented in gardening and who have benefitted from starting to garden or having a new outdoor space to use.

Find out more and nominate your community gardening group by 28 June 2026.

We’re excited to celebrate BBC The Archers’ 75th anniversary with BBC Radio 4 at the brand new RHS Badminton Flower Show 🌿

Designed by award-winning garden designer and long-time Archers fan Jo Thompson Garden Design, The Archers 75th Anniversary Garden will bring the much-loved Bridge Farm to life for the very first time.

Inspired by the programme’s rich rural storytelling and Bridge Farm’s commitment to organic, sustainable farming, the garden will feature orchard fruit trees, a wildflower meadow, a wildlife pond and plenty of thoughtful details familiar to listeners.

Following the dramatic sewage spill storyline at Bridge Farm, the garden represents a hopeful replanting and renewal of this iconic family space.

🌿 A Living Story of Transformation
Designed by Mike Long Gardens and Tom Rollett working with The Papillon Project, this design is inspired by the butterfly lifecycle, it reflects how young people can grow in confidence, wellbeing and purpose through the simple act of cultivating plants.

🌿 Vision Norfolk: The Vision In Bloom Garden
Designed by Rajul Shah working with Vision Norfolk, this cube aims to raise awareness of sight loss and demonstrate how people living with visual impairment can find enjoyment and fulfilment through nature. Sculpted sand dunes are planted with coastal grasses and flowering perennials, with a rain curtain introduces movement and sound, referencing sea spray and water.

🌿 Women on the Land: Celebrating the Year of the Woman Farmer
