Sol Dans company is a London based dance company, renowned for creating dance that is accessible and enriching to diverse audiences. Founded in 2007 by American artistic director Melody Squire, Sol Dans is known for its innovative movement, emotive content and dynamic athleticism. Sol Dans in partnership with Great Lake Films has created Then Dance, a series of narrative dance films funded by Arts
Council England. The series uses dance to speak to young people and explore social issues. Then Dance was recently nominated for a National Lottery Award, 'Best use of public funds in the arts'. Sol Dans has performed at some of the most notable theaters and festivals including UK Music Video Awards, Resolution! at the Robin Howard Dance Theatre, Cloud Dance Festival, and Lilian Baylis Theatre at Sadlers Wells. In addition to performance and choreography, Sol Dans Company engages audiences of all ages through outreach and education programs. The company teaches weekly Open company classes at the renowned Pineapple Dance Studios. Sol Dans provides regular workshops and open rehearsals at Chisenhale Dance Space. Through the formation of SD2, Sol Dans's mentoring and training company, SD2 develops early-career artists, identifying emerging choreographers and cultivating creativity through collaboration, experimentation and performance.
