Ageing well is about more than staying active. It is about confidence, routine, connection, and feeling safe at home.

At Crossroads SEL our Ageing Well service supports older people who are finding daily life harder, while giving unpaid carers and families practical help, reassurance, and time to breathe.

A little regular support can help someone stay independent for longer, reduce pressure on unpaid carers, and prevent difficulties from escalating.

If you care for someone who needs extra support, you do not have to manage it alone.

Unpaid carers in Bexley are holding families together, often while facing impossible choices about heating, safety and household costs.

Crossroads SEL is proud to be working in partnership with SELCE-South East London Community Energy to support adult and parent carers across Bexley with practical energy and home safety support.

This project is about more than advice. It is about helping unpaid carers keep their homes warmer, safer and more manageable while they continue providing vital care, often unseen and unpaid.

If you are an unpaid carer in Bexley, or you know someone who is, please get in touch.

Carers should not have to struggle in silence.

Taking a break from caring is vital for your health and well-being, but peace of mind while away is just as important.
Tragically, every year lives are lost to carbon monoxide poisoning in holiday rentals, hotels, and Airbnb's, places where CO alarms aren't always installed or required by law.

That’s why we’re supporting the campaign.

Before you zip up your suitcase:

Pack your essentials

Grab your passport

Pack a portable CO alarm

It takes up almost no space in your bag, but it brings total peace of mind for you and your family.

Stay safe while making memories on holiday

The Crisis and Resilience Fund can provide eligible residents with help towards essential items and living costs, as well as access to advice that can help improve financial wellbeing in the longer term.

This could include support with food, energy costs, essential clothing and school uniform, household items, furniture and white goods, and some housing-related costs.

Residents can apply directly online, or be referred by a Council officer or partner organisation.

If you’re worried about managing essential costs, don’t wait until things become a crisis. Get in touch to find out what support may be available.

Put your general knowledge to the test and help support some fantastic local causes!

The Rotary Club of Bexley is delighted to invite you to a fun-filled Charity Quiz Night, raising money for Bexley Together – The Mayor of Bexley’s Charity Appeal.

The Mayor’s chosen charities are Crossroads Care South East London, supporting unpaid carers; Truly Beloved, helping families of children with disabilities and special educational needs; and Diabetes UK Bexley Support Group, supporting local families living with diabetes. Every pound raised through the appeal goes towards supporting people in the Bexley community.

Tickets are just £8 per person. Get together a team of friends, family or colleagues and see who can come out on top! Maximum 8 people per team.

Whether you're a quiz master or just enjoy a bit of friendly competition, it's a great opportunity to enjoy an evening together while supporting three worthwhile local causes. We will also be holding a raffle on the night, again with all proceeds going to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal. So bring some extra cash and give yourself a chance to win a prize.

Bring your own food & drink

Book your tickets, get your team together and join us for a great evening of quiz, fun, friendship and fundraising!

Parking is limited at the venue - if you are able, please park nearby and walk

We will open the doors at 19.00 and aim to start the quiz at 19.30.

How lovely to receive this today ❤️

‘When summer brings its scorching heat,
The Crossroads team is there to meet
The needs of carers, clients too,
And older people they support right through.

With kindness, professionalism, and standards held high,
You’re always there for others, and you always deliver with pride.

Professional, thoughtful, warm and true,
Whatever the weather, they see things through.

When temperatures rise and the days are long,
Your dedication keeps us safe and strong,

You’re there for us when things feel wrong.
So from a carer, thank you today,
For all that you do in your caring way.

At Crossroads Care compassion leads the way,
Supporting carers and older people come what may.

Through cold, heat or rain, both near and far,
You all truly show how caring people you are.

TS Carer❤️

An Amber heat-health alert has been put in effect from 11 August 2026 at 12:00pm to 14 August 2026 at 09:00pm.

Hot weather can be dangerous and increase the risk of serious health problems, especially for older people, young children, pregnant women, and those with long-term health conditions.

Stay safe by:
• Drinking plenty of water
• Avoiding the sun between 11am and 3pm
• Keeping your home cool
• Wearing light clothing and sunscreen
• Checking on vulnerable friends, family, and neighbours

Feeling dizzy, getting headaches, or sweating heavily? These could be signs of heat exhaustion. Move to a cool place, drink water, and cool your skin. If you don't feel better within 30 minutes, seek medical advice.
