多年前，幾位曾深受賭癮困擾的賭徒，認識福音重獲新生後，深切感受到沉迷在賭博中的人的痛苦，他們感受到上帝的恩典，脫離了賭博的惡習，建立健康的生活方式。

這幾位曾為過來人的基督徒和英國一些華人教會領袖，在何明華會督紀念協會的協助和支持下，於1996年11月在倫敦成立了「福音戒賭中心」。

戒賭中心透過會面和家訪，聖經研習和教會推薦，解釋福音的救恩和基督教的重要性，支持賭徒和他們的家人決志悔改、重獲新生。


透過了解基督教的福音，戒賭中心鼓勵沉溺在賭博中的人士積極面對困難，改變舊有的生活觀念，重整與家人和朋友的關係，並提供債務管理的咨詢和協助。中心也安排定期的會友聚會，讓戒賭者互相分享，支持鼓勵，建立新的生活和朋友圈子。

近年到戒賭中心尋求協助的人穩步上揚，戒賭中心也組織外展工作，宣傳賭博的不良影響。福音戒賭中心的服務均為免費，經濟支持完全依靠個人和教會的自由奉獻。本中心設有義工咨詢訓練，培訓更多的義工配合中心的事工擴展。請以禱告，奉獻或義務工作支持戒賭中心的事工發展。
