New for this year's CIEP conference, our 'How I handled…' sessions give delegates the opportunity to share practical lessons from a real editorial or business challenge they've faced.

Your experience doesn't have to be extraordinary to be valuable. It could be something like:

- How I handled a difficult client conversation
- How I handled an unexpected quiet period
- How I handled a particularly tricky piece of text
- How I handled a negotiation about fees

The conversation continues in the CIEP Roundtables.

CIEP Roundtables bring editorial professionals together to explore the wider issues shaping the profession, creating space for informed discussion, shared expertise and diverse perspectives.

Next week, a group of editorial professionals from across our membership will come together to discuss the evolution of language: what drives language change, what it tells us about society, and what it means for editorial professionals.

Together, they'll explore questions including:

📖 Who decides what is 'correct' use of language?
📖 What is the editor's responsibility with regard to the evolution of language?
📖 What does language change tell us about social change?
📖 What might editorial professionals stand to lose or gain if they challenge established conventions and embrace how others commonly use language?

These conversations don't seek definitive answers. Instead, they bring together a range of professional perspectives, encouraging members to share experiences, challenge assumptions and reflect on the evolving role of editorial professionals.
