Soho Parish PSA is the Parent Staff Association of Soho Parish Primary School. A voluntary-aided CoE state primary school, rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted and located in the heart of Soho's "village". The school is dedicated to serving it's local community and unlike many CoE schools, has no religious criteria for pupils; priority is given to local children. Consequently the intake is very mixed, wi
th many additional languages being spoken such as Cantonese and Mandarin, Bengali, French and Italian. The School's classes are much smaller than a typical state school; this brings the advantage of working closely with pupils and families. Unfortunately, the disadvantage is our funding, which is allocated based on the number of pupils. Due to the size of the building, Soho Parish is at capacity and cannot increase it's state funding. At the same time its staffing costs are similar to any single-form entry school and it has the added challenge of an old building with higher operating costs due to its central London location. This creates an annual "funding gap". The PSA helps bridge this gap and provides other items and services to maximise the children's education and enjoyment, which the School could simply not afford otherwise.
