SSAFA Dorset Branch were honoured to have been invited to support today’s Remembrance Day service at County Hall in Dorchester once again this year. The branch was represented by Rob Murphy (Standard bearer), Eileen Murphy (Branch Sec) and Terry Canham (Branch Chair) and a wreath was laid on behalf of all Dorset Branch volunteers.

Armed Forces Covenant - A Directory of Services for Dorset:

In the military there is a clear chain of command, free medical and dental care, subsidised social clubs, welfare support and camaraderie with other service men and women. Unsurprisingly, things are different in civilian life. Prescriptions and dental care are not free, attending social clubs often costs more than on military bases, and typically it can be difficult to find answers to the simplest of questions. This directory is here to signpost you to where you can find those answers.

This directory has been compiled in partnership with Dorset's Armed Forces Covenant Programme Board. It is here to assist anyone who needs information and advice in relation to assisting the Armed Forces Community in Dorset. It can be used by Serving members of the Armed Forces and their families, by Veterans and their families, by any organisation or professional who are seeking to help anyone from the Armed Forces Community.

SSAFA Dorset is, once again, helping to sponsor the Tank Museum's annual "On Track" event on 2 October 2025. It’s designed for all members of the armed forces community – including regulars and reserves, service families, the bereaved, service leavers, veterans, and anyone connected to life in the forces. Doors Open at 1000 hrs. Admission is free for members of the Armed Forces community and can be obtained through the Tank Museum website: https://tankmuseum.org/events/on-track/
