Robes Project

Robes Project The Robes Project supports homeless people by giving them a safe, warm place to sleep, a hot meal and support as they start to to rebuild their lives.

The Robes Project was set up in January 2007 to support homeless people by giving them a safe, warm place to sleep, a hot meal and support as they start to rebuild their lives. This is done by churches offering a temporary night shelter during the winter months from November to April of each year for 15 to 20 guests each night. Approximately 50 people are given support annually. When a guest join

s us we offer them a stay of up to one month when their situation is reviewed. The stability and rest afforded by staying at the night shelter provides a platform for guests to address other issues such as their housing, health, relationships, finances or legal matters. Our charity has over 400 committed volunteers who run the night shelter in teams. Over 22 church venues are willing to host the project on a rota basis. Without the dedication of the volunteers and churches, the whole project would not be able to operate. Annually we run fundraising events. The biggest event is our Sleepout at Southwark Cathedral, London Bridge on the last Friday in November. Over the past four years this event has raised over £250,000 which has been crucial to the continuation of the vital work of Robes Project.

It was a pleasure to speak at Evensong All Saints Church, West Dulwich yesterday to share a little more about Robes and a project with our guests curated by the wonderful Diane Eagles . Diane had done a couple of sessions with our guests, creating clay sculptures as part of the Dulwich Open Artists House Artists' Open House, Dulwich Festival project displayed at All Saints the last couple of weeks, with the focus on what home means to them.
The project was something our guests really enjoyed, with so many diverse stories from them, has generated discussion around homelessness and Robes, and also raised around £400 towards our work.
A very big thank you to Diane, Harvey, Caroline, and all involved.

We are immensely proud of our Robes community, who provide support to those who may be estranged from their loved ones.

It's another fundraising Friday! Why not host a movie night for a movie, some popcorn and a couple of hours of entertainment!

Every little bit helps when it comes to supporting our guests, and we really appreciate the support.
