DyslexiaLondon

DyslexiaLondon We believe that dyslexia should not stand as a barrier to success for any person. The Dyslexia Association of London has been in operation since 1972.

Membership is open to individuals, parents, teachers and to all interested in dyslexia. Many celebrities, entrepreneurs and high-performing individuals have overcome their learning difficulties to achieve their goals. We encourage our members to aim high, and offer them resources to unlock their potential through careful promotion of events, support groups and creative opportunities. Members will have access to Adult Dyslexia Support Group meetings and will receive notice of meetings and events.

We loved reading David Owen’s article from December in The New Yorker, “Dyslexia and the Reading Wars” — it’s always great to see the spotlight on the impact of dyslexia. 💙

The piece highlights the importance of structured literacy (or the “science of reading”) — research-backed approaches that help struggling readers accurately decode written language. Experts note that even teachers can go through advanced education without learning these methods, which contributes to persistent misconceptions about how reading should be taught.

Articles like this remind us why advocacy, awareness, and adult-focused support are so important. Dyslexia doesn’t stop at childhood, and adult learners deserve recognition, understanding, and strategies that truly work.
