We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Prunella Scales. It was our privilege to host both Prunella and her late husband, Timothy West, at our Dickensian-themed Christmas Service in 2022 and 2023. They were both charming and delightful, and we are truly grateful for their support. Their company was thoroughly enjoyable, and we feel honoured to have had the opportunity to share those moments with them.

The annual Launderers Christmas Carol Service and Supper on Monday 1st December promises to be a delightful evening, uniting family and friends for a traditional Carol Service at Southwark Cathedral, followed by a supper at Launderers Hall. This year, we are pleased to welcome the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners as our special guests. Family members, friends, and children aged ten and older are warmly invited to join us. After the Service, you will be welcomed with a glass of mulled wine at the Hall, followed by a festive two-course supper. For tickets and booking details contact [email protected]

Master Warden Charlie Betteridge called in to see Anna Pangbourne, CEO of his chosen charity for his year as Master, the Fashion & Textiles Children’s Trust, on Monday on almost his last official appearance as Master, literally a few hours before passing on the baton and presented a cheque for £2,511. FTCT is a wonderful charity supporting the children of people working in the textile industry including laundries. Even a small donation can make a big difference to a child in need and FTCT was a very appropriate charity for the Worshipful Company of Launderers, allowing us to give something back to some of those hard-working but needy people working in our industry.
