Want to lead group rides?

Bikeworks Ride Leader Training is for confident riders ready to plan and lead organised, welcoming group rides on road and traffic-free routes.

It is designed for community volunteers, local cycling groups, grassroots organisations and riders building experience before Bikeability Instructor training. It is also useful for people organising cycle rides for friends, colleagues or events.

In three hours, you’ll cover route planning, group management, ride briefings, pace and positioning, and how to respond when plans need to change.

Participant feedback: “It made leading a group ride feel much less daunting. I came away with confidence I didn’t expect to gain, knowing what to look out for and how to keep people riding together.”

🚲 The Smile Machine is out on Westminster streets.

Our latest blog shares how Cycle Connect is making inclusive cycling possible through side-by-side journeys, fresh air, conversation and time outside.

Piloted by Erma, the side-by-side e-assist cycle gives residents a different way to travel through the city together.

Over the past year, Cycle Connect has supported 124 passengers across 394 rides in Westminster.

For passengers, that can mean an appointment, shopping, volunteering, or simply spending time outside.

Did you know Bikeworks has an inclusive cycle showroom overlooking the Velodrome at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park?

You can come and see specialist, adapted cycles in one place, talk to our team, and book a test ride around the Park.

For many people, the right cycle is the difference between watching cycling from the side and being able to ride.

Stuck for something practical to do this May Half Term?

Family Cycle Training gives you and your child real riding skills — together.

A free, hands-on session for parents or guardians in Tower Hamlets to learn alongside their children. You’ll cover starting, stopping, steering, using gears, and riding with more control in a park setting. Instructors adapt the session on the day so everyone can build from their own starting point.

What this means in practice: being able to cycle together, support your child’s riding, and start using local cycle routes as a family.

📅 Limited sessions left:

Thurs 28 May & Fri 29 May
🕧 12:30 – 14:30

This bike is now part of a family’s weekend. 🚲

Through our Charity Bike Factory, teams build bikes that are distributed by charity partners like to families who would not otherwise have easy access to one.

One family told us weekends used to be spent indoors. Now they explore local canals and green spaces together.

That is what your team building day can lead to.

Your team builds the bikes. Families get to ride them.

“It’s about having the ability to cycle with someone, with bikes that enable you to do that.”

Lauren, an Occupational Therapist in Newham, regularly refers people to Bikeworks. 🚲

For Lauren, the value is clear. It gives people the opportunity to:

➡️ try something new
➡️ learn a skill
➡️ build confidence and independence
➡️ spend time outdoors with other people

Specialist cycles mean people can ride together first. For some riders, that shared experience opens up independent cycling, regular activity and a stronger connection to the places around them.

“I recommend Bikeworks. People get a lot out of it.”

The right cycle, the right setting and the right encouragement can change what feels possible.

Storage is not the glamorous bit of cycling, but it is essential to keeping more cycles ready to use. 🚲

A big thank you to the Bow team at Big Yellow Self Storage for giving Bikeworks free, secure space for bikes, parts and equipment.

That space means we can keep more cycles ready for repairs, maintenance, training and inclusive cycling sessions, including our work with disabled riders and people who are too often excluded from cycling.

Thank you Big Yellow Bow for backing Cycles for Good.
