Cycles connect people.

Two years ago, a chance meeting with Fatima Whitbread MBE led to a ride together on one of our side-by-side cycles.

Since then, children and young people from Banya Fostering have taken part in a coached BMX session at Lee Valley VeloPark, and Bikeworks has supported Fatima’s UK Campaign with 60 bikes built through our Charity Bike Factory.

Now, as Bikeworks celebrates its 20th anniversary, we are proud to have become an official Action Hub partner with Fatima’s UK Campaign.

Through the partnership, we will bring Bikeworks’ experience of inclusive cycling and cycle mechanics to the Action Hub network. Cycling can widen access to physical activity and wellbeing, while cycle mechanics can offer practical learning and recognised qualifications.

We will develop this work with children and young people in and leaving care, building from their interests, strengths and ambitions.

If you represent a local authority, care organisation or potential partner and want to explore how cycling or cycle mechanics could contribute to your work with children and young people in or leaving care, we want to hear from you.

hadn’t ridden for a while. Now she’s taking herself out of her comfort zone: riding a bike.

At our Islington All Ability Club in Highbury Fields, Tor has been refreshing her two-wheeled cycling skills and getting back into riding.

“This is an initiative to get people riding. You can learn or refresh (like me) and ride a bike for free for up to two hours.”

If two wheels aren’t right for you, that’s not a problem. We also have trikes, hand cycles, recumbents and more, with different cycles available to suit different levels of mobility and ability.

Come along to Highbury Fields every Monday, 10am–12pm. You can stay active and connect with other riders.

Plus the temperatures will be perfect for riding next week! 🥳

Specialist cycles can make physical activity possible for disabled young riders. Too often, however the opportunity is not provided.

The Cycle 535 challenge is a sponsored Cycle Ride from Land’s End to London that aims to increase that opportunity.

By raising £10,000, they will add 3 x cycles to the Bikeworks’ specialist cycle fleet for disabled children and young people.

Our latest blog explains why this ride matters, what specialist cycles can make possible, and how your support can help more young riders experience cycling.

If you’d like to help widen access to cycling, please make a donation to the Cycle 535 Fund. Every contribution helps Bikeworks use cycles as a tool for good.

Last summer, Fatima’s two boys spent the holidays riding bikes built through our Charity Bike Factory. 🚲

Donated to our charity partner, Moving Moi, the bikes went from one day of corporate team building to a summer of local rides, exploring and time spent cycling together.

That’s what makes Charity Bike Factory different. Colleagues take on fun bicycle-based challenges before working side by side to build bikes that continue to be used long after the team-building day has ended.

Bring your team together. Build bikes. Create an impact that keeps moving.
