Cycles connect people.
Two years ago, a chance meeting with Fatima Whitbread MBE led to a ride together on one of our side-by-side cycles.
Since then, children and young people from Banya Fostering have taken part in a coached BMX session at Lee Valley VeloPark, and Bikeworks has supported Fatima’s UK Campaign with 60 bikes built through our Charity Bike Factory.
Now, as Bikeworks celebrates its 20th anniversary, we are proud to have become an official Action Hub partner with Fatima’s UK Campaign.
Through the partnership, we will bring Bikeworks’ experience of inclusive cycling and cycle mechanics to the Action Hub network. Cycling can widen access to physical activity and wellbeing, while cycle mechanics can offer practical learning and recognised qualifications.
We will develop this work with children and young people in and leaving care, building from their interests, strengths and ambitions.
If you represent a local authority, care organisation or potential partner and want to explore how cycling or cycle mechanics could contribute to your work with children and young people in or leaving care, we want to hear from you.
