Kol Nidre starts on Sunday 20 at 6.49pm and ends on Moncay 21 at 7.48pm.
Head Office will be closed on Monday for Yom Kippur.

Last week, jLiving tenants at Daniel Court came together to celebrate both Rosh Hashanah and two special birthdays.

Housing Manager Reah prepared a gorgeous lunch for jLiving tenants, who gathered with friends in the communal lounge to mark the Jewish New Year and celebrate the birthdays of two members of the Daniel Court community.

The gathering was well attended, with tenants enjoying the opportunity to spend time together, catch up with friends and mark the start of the new year.

The two tenants celebrating their birthdays were Michael and Marcia. Making the occasion extra special for Marcia was the fact that her daughter, who is visiting from Australia, was able to join her for the celebrations.

Reah said of the event: “They all had a wonderful time and expressed their appreciation to jLiving for helping to facilitate the gathering and providing an opportunity for tenants to come together to celebrate Rosh Hashanah and the birthdays.

“Unfortunately, a number of tenants were unable to attend, so I delivered honey cake to four flats to ensure that those tenants could still be part of the celebrations.”

It was a lovely occasion for everyone involved and a reminder of the importance of community, friendship and celebrating special moments together.

Last week, tenants at Shine House, our Scheme in Finchley, came together to celebrate Rosh Hashanah with a lovely afternoon tea.

The celebration included sandwiches, honey cake and the traditional apples dipped in honey, symbolising hopes for a sweet new year. Tenants also enjoyed colourful platters of exotic fruits, all organised by Housing Manager Tanja with the help of a number of tenants.

Tanja said of the event: “Everyone had a wonderful time celebrating the new year.”

"It was a wonderful afternoon as tenants welcomed the Jewish New Year."

We are thrilled to announce that jLiving has been included in the list of the UK's Best Workplaces in Charity and Not-for-Profit (small organisations), which has been put together by Great Place to Work UK!

The GPTW organisation believes that the UK's Best Workplaces in Charity and Not-for-Profit are creating positive, inclusive, and engaging environments. Discover the leading charities and not-for-profits that are creating great workplaces for all.

Globally, their Best Workplaces survey is the largest survey of workplace cultures and people practices. The methodology that creates their various Best Workplaces Lists is regarded as the ‘gold standard’ of employer awards.

Employees responded to over 60 survey questions describing the extent to which their organisation creates a Great Place to Work For All. 85% of the evaluation is based on what employees say about their experiences of trust and reaching their full human potential as part of their organisation, no matter who they are or what they do.

The remaining 15% is based on an assessment of all employees’ daily experiences of innovation, the company’s values, and the effectiveness of their leaders, to ensure a consistent employee experience across departments and seniority levels.

We are very proud of this achievement and continue to strive to provide a Great Place to Work for all of our staff and employees across all aspects of their work.

Last month leaseholders from our Scheme in Wembley, The Martins, celebrated jLiving's 60th anniversary with a fantastic day trip to the seaside.
Leaseholders travelled by coach to Bournemouth, where they enjoyed exploring the town, taking in the seaside views and spending time together. They were accompanied by Housing Manager Rakesh and Senior Housing Manager Biljana.

Reflecting on the day, Biljana said: "We all had a lovely day out exploring Bournemouth. We came across a lovely quote by J.R.R. Tolkien, who retired to the city and spent his later years there: ‘Not all those who wander are lost.’

“We also discovered that Mary Shelley found inspiration in the area for her famous novel Frankenstein. It was wonderful to discover these fascinating connections to literature while enjoying such a lovely day by the sea.”

The trip was a great opportunity for leaseholders to celebrate jLiving’s milestone anniversary together.

As part of our 60th anniversary celebrations, we've been asking members of staff how they feel about working at jLiving and what they enjoy most in their job. 🥳6️⃣0️⃣ Winston Dinnall, Head of Repairs and Asset Management, gave us his answers below:

1. In 2026, how long have you worked for jLiving? "As of 2026, I’ve worked at jLiving for 20 years"

2. What do you enjoy most about working here? "The people and the strong sense of teamwork".

3. How has this Association supported your growth, learning, or success? "By encouraging learning, trusting me with responsibility, and supporting my development".

4. What makes our team or workplace different from others you’ve experienced? "The genuine culture of respect, support, and care".

5. If you were describing our organisation to a friend, what would you say - and why? "Values-driven, supportive, and truly focused on making a difference".

6. What moment at this organisation made you feel most proud to work here? "Seeing our work have a real, positive impact on people’s lives".

7. How has working here changed or influenced you, professionally or personally? "It’s helped me grow in confidence, empathy, and professionalism".

8. Can you describe a time when our mission or values really came to life in your work? "When the team came together to support someone and do the right thing".

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is just around the corner! Beginning at sundown on Friday, 11th September 2026, and ending at nightfall on Sunday, 13th September, Rosh Hashanah welcomes the year 5787.

If you’re starting to plan meals for family and friends, we have a simple, traditional honey cake recipe which is a wonderful place to start. Made with brewed tea and oil, it has a beautifully soft, moist crumb - and there’s no electric mixer needed.
