Rivka and Yitzchak said: "We came here in May last year, we were very very fortunate to get the accommodation because it really is beautiful. We've got everything we need - independence as well as being part of a community which is really perfect. All the shops are so nice and close, my husband even though he’s so old, managed to get up to the shops and back. Everything is really marvellous here."

"There’s a tea morning every other week where everybody gets together in the lounge which is really nice because you get to know the other people that are here."

"We’ve been really lucky and fortunate to be here and we’re really looking forward to continuing being here. It's a beautiful community and we've just been mixing with everybody. It's just what we need rather than being in a home somewhere just left on your own. Here you've got people around you and you've still got your independence, which is just what we need at our time of life."

Tenants from Montefiore Court in Margate joined Housing Manager Hayley on Monday to light a Yellow Candle in memory of Mela Nejer of Luck in Poland, who was murdered there in 1942 aged just 24.

The tenants recited a short prayer and added a beautiful flower from the Scheme's indoor garden to the memorial.

Today is Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day and special Yellow Candles have been lit at the Martins in Wembley and two tenants have lit candles at Lionel Leighton Court in Golders Green.

They are being lit in memory of the six million Jewish lives lost in the Holocaust and those who suffered but still survived.

We remember them.

Tonight, Monday 13th April 2026, is the start of the UK Jewish Community’s National Yom HaShoah Commemoration, honouring the memory of the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and the courage of Holocaust survivors and refugees who rebuilt their lives in Britain.

Taking place at 7pm at Victoria Tower Gardens, Westminster — now the home of the UK Jewish Community’s National Yom HaShoah Commemoration — this solemn gathering will bring together members of the Jewish community and wider society, including Holocaust survivors, refugees, young leaders, civic representatives and dignitaries, to stand together in remembrance and commitment.

Shabbat starts on Friday at 7.34pm and finishes on Saturday at 8.40pm.
Head Office will be closed on the 8 and 9 April.

Wishing all our tenants and their friends and families Chag Pesach Sameach and good shabbos.
Pesach starts today at 7.19pm. and ends on Friday as Shabbat comes in.
Shabbat starts at 7.22pm and finishes on Saturday 8.27pm.
Head Office will be closed from 2pm today and all day Thursday and Friday for Pesach.
It is also Easter and so Head Office will be closed for Easter Monday on Monday 6 April before opening again on Tuesday 7 April.

Tenants at South Lodge Scheme came together recently to discuss garden improvements. Keen gardeners were invited to attend the most recent tenants’ meeting at South Lodge, our scheme in Streatham. Garden improvements were the main focus of the discussion, with tenants keen to explore the various options available to enhance their outdoor space.

The meeting was accompanied by a delightful afternoon tea, featuring freshly baked scones served with butter and jam, alongside freshly brewed tea and coffee. This was kindly organised by Senior Housing Manager Biljana and Housing Manager Jocelyn, adding a warm and welcoming touch to the event.

A couple of weeks ago, tenants at Young Court organised their own delicious Friday night kiddush. They lit the Shabbat candles and had challah, egg & onion, crackers, felafel and humus and some lovely cake. A great time was had by all!

⏰ Don’t forget — the clocks are changing this weekend!

In the UK, the clocks go forward by one hour in the early hours of Sunday, marking the start of British Summer Time. That means lighter evenings and (unfortunately!) one hour less sleep.

Remember to set your clocks forward before you go to bed on Saturday night so you’re not caught out.

Just a reminder that we now have vacancies for Jewish students who need affordable accommodation for the 2026/7 academic year - 1st September 2026 until 6th June 2027 at our property in Golders Green. Applications can be made online from the website.

25 rooms (single occupancy only) are available for Jewish students and young people in Golders Green, arranged over two floors with a communal lounge and shared kitchens and bathrooms.

The accommodation is self-catering and has large modern kitchens/dining areas. Kashrut is maintained to the London Beth Din, Kashrut Guide standards by all tenants, with guides available for information.

The house has a comfortable communal lounge with 42″ screen TV, games and a coffee area. The lounge is often the venue for Friday Night Dinners and other events.
