SPRING UPDATE
After a slow start to the year due to rain, it's been a productive three months since our AGM, more than 20 rose beds weeded and fertilised, three beds rotovated and re-planted and the long border tidied up. Not to mention cutting back vegetation around the playground and clearing weeds on the paths. We have delayed any other planting due to the extremely dry conditions, but now that we have had some rain we will be pushing ahead with this, although the ground is still very dry. All thanks to our lovely group of volunteers and the hard work they do every Wednesday. Over the past year, they have clocked up approximately 1,250 hours. Don't forget, if you would like to join in, just come along any Wednesday with a drink and a pair of gardening gloves, and we'll do the rest.
We were lucky enough to have a dry morning for the Easter Egg Hunt after a wet start to the day. Numbers were down on previous years, but we still managed to raise some much needed funds which we have spent on new plants for the flower beds.
Looking ahead to the summer, we will again have yoga sessions in the walled garden. This year, we have been able to add tai chi on Monday afternoons. We are very lucky to have such a peaceful, secluded area for such activities, and we hope that some of you will be able to come along and join in.
Inflatables days will be back in the school holidays. Arrangements are well under way. Please look out for the flyer and support us by coming along or by letting other people know about them.
As for the play area, we continue to press the Council for the necessary repairs. Hopefully, with the shift in control of the Council, we will have a little more support. Our local Councillors have previously been very supportive of our park, and we hope they will now be in a stronger position to push for works to be done.
