PalMusic UK

PalMusic UK Building bridges between people and nations.

PalMusic UK (Friends of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music) is a charity that nurtures the musical talent of young Palestinians through a range of projects and programmes in Palestine and the UK. Palmusic supports the music education of young Palestinians and fosters the creative collaboration between British and Palestinian musicians. Through its collaboration with the Edward Said Nat

ional Conservatory of Music, the leading Music Institution in Palestine, and with UK Music Colleges and Institutions, we create unique educational and cultural opportunities for young people in both countries. We believe that music can have a great impact on young people’s lives and we want to support Palestinians to develop themselves and enjoy their rights to education, cultural development and artistic expression.

we hear you and appreciate you and your work beyond words 🙏🇵🇸

Thank you for unifying so many of us with your voice and music. It really does bring us all together - offering strength, joy and solidarity when we all sing as one or listen to your work with children and your community in Gaza.

The experience last weekend ended so memorably when we all joined in together for a moving rendition of the viral ‘drone song’.

Sheel sheel ya Jamali
Sheel ya hawatak b’Allah

Connecting Brighton to Gaza via music and community 🇵🇸

What a night with for Up Your Vision! in Brighton, supporting and - bringing together a sold-out room for an evening of live music, comedy and pure heart.

It was a joyful, defiant alternative to Eurovision, held in solidarity with the artists and countries who chose to step away this year.

Hosted by the wonderful , the stage lit up with Palestinian pop artist , , , , .b_k, , .choir and . The secret after-party went on until late and did not disappoint!

But the moment that stilled the whole room was when our own PalMusic Chair Wissam Boustany connected us live to music teachers Ahmed “Muin” Abu Amsha and Ismail Daoud from the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music in Gaza.

Speaking from his tent in Gaza directly to ours in Brighton, Ahmed spoke passionately about how the provision of music education under crises conditions brings hope and joy to displaced children, and how their music lessons create a community, a vital safe place and a fleeting escape from the harsh reality of war.

The experience culminated beautifully when we all joined in together for a moving rendition of the viral ‘drone song’ (video coming soon!).

Thank you to everyone who came, sang, danced and gave! A special thanks to the organisers:

The Choir of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music… the true voice of Palestine ❤️🇵🇸

The real voices of Palestine are still singing.

Today was one of the most emotional days for us.

For the first time, elderly women joined the choir — mothers and grandmothers carrying the true spirit of traditional Palestinian songs. These are not just old songs… They are stories, memories, identity, and the real voice of Palestine.

Today, we began a beautiful journey to preserve and document these rare traditional songs so they will never disappear, and so they can live on through our children and future generations.

They were singing, laughing, and filled with joy today… and they deserve that joy. They deserve to have a place in this musical family.

Just as we sing with children, the elders also have a voice, and they deserve to be part of this journey.

This is the Choir of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music… Where heritage, memory, love, and the voice of Palestine come together in one place ❤️

This is how we protect our heritage. This is how Palestine stays alive ❤️

PalMusic UK congratulates the on their
remarkable recent performance in London.

We are particularly proud of our two past PalMusic UK scholars, Tibah and Omar Saad, who studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland a few years ago.

Head to .duchen’s Substack for an excellent review of their concert.

“‘Tour in Galilee’ is a piece Mostafa composed for his brother Omar as a gift when he was released from prison after refusing to serve in the Israeli army. The siblings belong to the Palestinian community living in the 1948 lands in Galilee. As a result, they have Israeli citizenship.

In addition to coming from this minority, they are Druze, a minority within a minority. In 1956, Israel passed a law of obligatory military service for Druze men. Many Druze people refused service, including the brothers and their father.

In 2013, following the call for his service, Omar became known for saying

“I will not be the fuel for your wars, nor a soldier in your army”

In December of that year, Omar was imprisoned over his conscientious objection to military service. With his mother’s tears, his father’s distress at the absence of his eldest son, and the fading smiles in their home, Mostafa found refuge in music.
On the way from the family home to prison visits, the family passed the entire Galilee, from east to west, from near Lake Tiberias all the way to the Mediterranean sea.

In 2014, attempting to capture the mountainous landscape and life in Galilee, Mostafa wrote Tour in Galilee to surprise his brother Omar with joy upon his release and finally play music together.

Blending the Western music they had studied with their Arab music they grew up with, dreaming that one day they would perform this piece on international stages.”
