Arafat 2026: No More Excuses

In these final moments of this special day we need to be entirely honest with ourselves.

Millions of Muslims are standing on the plains of Arafat right now making dua (supplication), and millions of us are fasting at home. That’s beautiful, but if you think the responsibilities of this day end when you break your fast, you’ve fundamentally misunderstood Islam.

Look at what is happening in the world today. We are witnessing an ongoing, televised genocide in Gaza. We see Western governments continuing to fund, arm, and politically shield the slaughter of our brothers and sisters while the mainstream media runs PR for the oppressors.

And what is the Muslim community doing? We’re crying, we’re making individual prayers, and then we’re going right back to our comfortable lives.

The Prophet Muhammad did not deliver his Final Sermon on Mount Arafat just for us to memorise it as a historical artifact.

He stood there and laid down a blueprint for systemic justice, for racial equity, and for the absolute protection of human life and property. He commanded us to stand against tyranny.

Making dua without strategic political action isn’t piety it’s an excuse to do nothing. Allah is not going to change our condition until we change what is in ourselves. That means moving past passive ritualism. It means organising, funding civil rights institutions, punishing complicit politicians at the ballot box, and making life uncomfortable for the establishments that enable this oppression.

If your prayers on this holy day don’t drive you to actively fight for the political empowerment of the Ummah and the liberation of the oppressed, then you need to ask yourself what exactly you are standing for.

Today is the deadline. Today is the day you decide whether you are a participant in your own future or a victim of those who hate you.

For too long, the political establishment has relied on your silence. They bank on the 'Muslim vote' being passive, disorganized, and easily bought with empty smiles and 'Eid greetings' while they simultaneously bankroll the destruction of Palestine and allow Islamophobia to rot our institutions.

If you aren't registered to vote by midnight, you are effectively telling the warmongers and the bigots that your voice doesn't matter. You are giving them a green light to continue the occupation, to continue the smears, and to continue treating our community like a second-class entity.

This isn't about 'civic pride.' This is about strategic self-defence. It is about the liberation of a people who have been oppressed for 75 years and ensuring that those who facilitate that oppression feel the heat at the ballot box.

Let's be completely accurate here, Muslims are hiding in Lebanese & homes from Israeli soldiers invading THEIR villages!

Anne Frank would likely call out the IDF’s statement for what it is: a betrayal of the most basic human duty to protect the persecuted. She knew what it meant to be hunted simply for being Jewish. She knew the terror of doors slamming shut because neighbors were too afraid, too complicit, or too hateful to hide the innocent.

So if she heard that the Israeli military was telling Druze and Christians in Lebanon not to shelter Muslims — telling people to turn their backs on neighbors because of their religion — she would be disgusted. Not diplomatic. Not forgiving. Disgusted.

She would recognise the language instantly: “Don’t hide them” is the same logic that kept her family in the attic. It’s the same cowardice dressed in uniform. She would say that anyone who gives that order has learned nothing from history — and worse, has chosen to become the thing they once fled!

I think It’s a powerful thing to look at modern tragedies through the lens of those who lived through the darkest parts of the past—it keeps the "never again" sentiment from becoming just a slogan & I don't know, maybe we learn from the past!

The legality of the war against depends on whether Iran was an imminent threat to the US. The US Director of National Intelligence (DNI), Tulsi Gabbard, was asked by Congressman Jon Ossoff in a Congressional hearing, whether in the opinion of the DNI that Iran was deemed an ‘imminent threat’ to the US? Instead of giving her honest answer (i.e. Iran wasn’t an imminent threat to the US), Gabbard said it was the President’s decision to make that judgement. That’s a lie. It’s the DNI Director’s job to give her threat assessment opinion to the President.

Then Joe Kent resigned as the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, stating that he cannot support the ongoing war in Iran, as Iran posed no imminent threat to the USA. Joe is a US special forces and CIA veteran who had made many sacrifices for the USA. The only reason it seems that he stepped down was that the war is illegal. Not only from a conscious viewpoint, but also that as it’s an illegal war, there will be consequences that those perpetuating the war could find themselves in the Hague accused of war crimes.

No imminent threat and no Congressional approval for war. The US Administration is too cowardly to admit it, and the mainstream media won’t ask that one basic question. Imagine if it was the other way round, and Iran attacked first? Mainstream media would be having a field day with anyone showing any kind of support for Iran. In fact, they already openly attack anyone who merely even suggests that Iran has a right to self-defense. They are giving the green light to this war by not challenging any MP that appears on their show that this is an illegal war.

Any country that joins in this war against Iran or any media outlet propagating for this war is breaking international law. Like all people who break the law, they must be held to account.

We have not forgotten the over 1 million killed in Iraq, and we will not forget this illegal war. Justice must be served & this madness must be stopped!
