Diana Chichande from Ecuador is a local Councillor candidate for the St George’s Ward, Elephant and Castle area Labour Party and attended the Community Engagement event which was live streamed from on Friday as a kind of wake up call to our Latin American community to realise that visibility and therefore good things comes through a variety of ways. Here she outlines one way is to go out and vote tomorrow. She is simply explaining that is a way of getting heard and bringing about positive change. It is a beautiful, simplistic explanation than can resonate with anyone in the community feeling somewhat helpless or at a loss as to how they can contribute to shining a light on this fabulous, creative, clever and vibrant community and also let others see how important they are to the local and wider economy for all. I love this video clip! Power to all the candidates I say, I mean how would you feeling standing for office say with your school days French? Everyone has different views, different parties, they all share one thing though which is courage. Intrigued to see the outcomes of this election this year! We, Carnaval Del Pueblo Asociación fiercely believe in culture, music, dance, film, food, history, creating understanding, as our ‘politics’ and it is lovely now to be accompanied hopefully by loads of local Councillors who will support us and enjoy what we do for the benefit of the whole nation.
