BMUS (British Medical Ultrasound Soc) Anything ULTRASOUND related.

Membership of the society is drawn from a wide range of disciplines including medical and paramedical professions, physicists, engineers, nurses, midwives, technicians, general practitioners, vets and others with an interest in medical ultrasound both in the United Kingdom and overseas. The success of the Society stems to a great extent from its multi-disciplinary nature, its regular special topic meetings, its Annual Scientific meeting and its quarterly 'Journal'.

🎤Ultrasound 2026: International Speaker

We are excited to have Ms Jo McCann speaking on Day 1 and Day 3 of Ultrasound 2026 on our Professional Issues stream.

Ms McCann is a Senior Lecturer in Ultrasound at the New Zealand Graduate School of Medicine, University of Waikato and holds over 25 years of experience as general sonographer spreading across public, private, and Pacific Island settings. Her global experiences have deepened her understanding of the challenges facing ultrasound users in resource-variable environments.

Ms McCann also serves as the Regional Director for RAD-AID South Pacific, Director of Tambe Global, and President of the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM), an Administrative Councillor of the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB), and Chair of the WFUMB Centre of Education Task Force.

We are excited to share Ms Borsha Sarker story with you.

She shares one of her best works which was her 2020 recording for”Be Curious” a session coordinated by the NIHR Leeds Biomedical research centre.

🐾Ms Sarker took a quirky approach to teaching kids about ultrasound, by combining it with one of her other passions; wildlife!

All throughout October, we are celebrating MUAM to raise awareness of the role sonographers play in the medical community and to educate the public about medical ultrasound.

🎤 BMUS UCD Speaker

We are excited to welcome Mrs Melanie McClogan, lead sonographer at Altnagelvin Hospital, as a speaker at our BMUS UCD Study Day.

Mrs McClogan has over 20 years' ultrasound experience in abdominal, obstetric and gynaecological scanning, with additional specialist skills in Head and Neck/ Thyroid scanning. Her talk entitled " Menstrual Mayhem in Ultrasound: Polyps, Periods and Pesky Hormones" will expand delegates' knowledge of gynaecological ultrasound.
