Pontikus - Global Marine Registry

Pontikus - Global Marine Registry Pontikus is a curated marine registry for sea lovers, coastal experts, and shoreline businesses. They fall for something specific. One Registry.

Find port cities, seaside resorts, coast paths, sustainable seafood, maritime terms, log entries, marina markets, dockside deals, digital services and more .. The Deep Water
Nobody falls in love with a coastline they found on a generic travel website. A stone harbour at a particular state of tide. A fish market that has worked the same dock for three generations. A master boatbuilder whose hull kn

owledge spans a century and still smells of timber and salt. That kind of coastal intelligence lives in real seafaring communities and harbour towns, not in stock photos. It sits with the inshore fisher who reads a reef the way most people read a road. It belongs to the maritime lawyer who knows the legal architecture of working ports, the marine biologist counting oceanic wildlife along a fragile stretch of shore, and the cliffside bed and breakfast that has been quietly excellent for twenty years yet invisible online. The coast has always known things the internet has never caught up with: surfside economies behind the beachfront industries, the portside commerce that keeps shoreline jobs alive, the coastal resilience work happening in the background while tourists chase sunsets. Pontikus is where that changes. Boundless Horizon. Pontikus is the Local Marine Registry built for people who actually know the water — and for those who want to learn from them. No corporate gloss, no filler, no algorithmic noise. Just 18 coastal regions across the British Isles, Atlantic Europe, the Mediterranean, East Africa, Asia Pacific, and North America, connected by one clear chart for coastal tourism, seafood sustainability, shoreline protection, and marine conservation.

Did you know the Thames Estuary is where river water meets the sea: and where changing tides create a remarkable habitat for wildlife? 🌊

Its mudflats and saltmarshes provide feeding grounds for wading birds such as redshanks and oystercatchers. As the tide ebbs and flows, it reveals channels, mud, and shoreline spaces that support an entire estuarine food web.

But the Thames waterfront is more than a wildlife habitat. It is also a place of family walks, working docks, riverside homes, fishing memories, and stories passed between generations. ⚓

This Saturday, 22 August, join Pontikus and Barking & Dagenham Libraries for Thames Tides and Dagenham Stories: a free, family-friendly story-and-map workshop at Dagenham Community Hub, from 11:00 to 12:00.

Bring a memory of a river, dock, canal, or coast. No writing experience is needed. Together, we’ll create a community waterfront map and celebrate the places by water that matter to us.

⛵️ We’re heading back to Southampton International Boat Show!

The Boat Building Academy will be back at the show this year, with our stand right next to the Wooden Boat Stage — and we’re delighted to be co-hosting the stage again with Women in Boatbuilding (WiB) and the Wooden Boatbuilders’ Trade Association (WBTA), following its fantastic debut last year.

The Wooden Boat Stage is back for 2026, bigger and better, with a packed programme celebrating all things wooden boatbuilding. Expect live demonstrations, fascinating talks, expert insights, traditional skills, modern techniques, boat restoration and plenty of stories from the people who build, sail and care for wooden boats.

There’s also the new Wooden Boat Stage Afloat, bringing even more beautiful wooden boats to the show and giving visitors the chance to get a closer look at them on the water.

Whether you’re already passionate about wooden boats or simply curious about how they’re built, restored and sailed, make sure you come and see us.

We’re proud to announce that Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has become the first cruise line to sign the Merchant Navy Welfare Board’s Seafarer Pledge. 🛳️

The pledge is recognises those who work at sea and making sure they have the support, opportunities and care they deserve - from helping crew members develop their careers to encouraging more young people to consider a career at sea.

Looking after our crew has always been important to us - a shining example is our very own Captain Rommel Pineda. He began his career with us as a deck boy in 1996 and has since risen through the ranks. This year, we introduced a dedicated Crew Welfare Officer to support the wellbeing of our crew across the fleet. We’ve also welcomed more than 200 young people aboard our ships and into our shoreside offices, giving them the chance to learn more about life at sea and the many careers available in the maritime industry.

Our crew are a huge part of what makes a Fred. Olsen sailing so special, and we’re proud to continue investing in the people who make our journeys possible. 💙
