🍏 Hands and wits on duty! What an inspiring way to close our Science of Water event 💧🎨

Last Friday 5th June, SRUK/CERU members and friends put their creativity into action during the Zine Factory workshop, where art and science came together in a hands-on and collaborative session.

Participants explored environmental themes linked to water through zine-making, combining creativity, reflection, and scientific discussion in a unique and engaging format. Events like these remind us of the importance of interdisciplinary approaches when addressing global challenges 🌍

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the workshop such a special way to conclude the event series!

🍏 Today we had the pleasure of taking part in the event “Science of Water: Challenges and Solutions”, organised by the SRUK/CERU Environment Committee and SRUK/CERU 💧🌍

During the event, we explored issues related to water scarcity, land use, and environmental change, bringing together perspectives from public policy, culture, engineering, and technology.

It was a fantastic opportunity to encourage interdisciplinary dialogue and reflect on how different fields can contribute to more sustainable futures ✨

🍏 Strengthening science diplomacy and international collaboration in the North West and Yorkshire

🌍 As a kick-off event marking the re-establishment of the SRUK/CERU North West & Yorkshire constituency, this initiative will bring together academics, regional stakeholders, diplomats, and members of the research community to explore the role of science diplomacy in fostering international collaboration.

The event will focus on both the challenges and opportunities involved in building stronger connections between European representatives, universities, institutions, and local communities in the region.

🔎 Through a place-based approach to science diplomacy, discussions will highlight how scientific collaboration should not only happen in high-level policy spaces, but also be rooted in the geographical, cultural, and socio-economic realities of local communities.
