Su***de Crisis is a registered charity which runs a Su***de Crisis Centre in England. We provide face to face intensive support to people who are feeling suicidal. We have been providing services for over seven years and have never had a su***de of a client under our care. We were invited t

o give evidence about the way we work and prevent su***de to the Parliamentary Health Select Committee (which includes MPs from all the three main political parties). The Select Committee was undertaking an inquiry into the measures needed to prevent su***de. Our Crisis Centre was set up by a person with lived experience of mental illness, who couldn’t find the kind of help she needed when she was in suicidal crisis. She resolved to set up something different from what which she experienced under mental health services. We are now contacted regularly by clinicians in NHS mental health services in other parts of the UK who are interested in learning more about the way we work. They describe us frequently as an “example of best practice”. We are also contacted very frequently by people from all over the UK who say they would like a similar Crisis Centre in their region. There is a need for many more Centres. Su***de Crisis is completely independent registered charity. A new book has been published about our work by Jessica Kingsley Publishers (Hachette UK). The book explains about the methods, approach and ethos which allow all our clients to survive. It’s called “Su***de Prevention Techniques: How A Su***de Crisis Service Saves Lives”.
