UNITY DAY
Quaker meeting house Uxbridge
Saturday, October 18,2025
12pm-3pm
Organised by Stand Up to Racism Hillingdon, bringing together concerned residents, activists, local politicians and faith leaders to combat the relentless scapegoating of Asylum seekers. Our campaign is to tackle the atmosphere of fear that has been created in the local area.
The Event Will host speeches from Labour MP John McDonnell representatives from Care4Calais and the NEU. In addition to children's activities and music.
The event will deliver a clear message: “Migration is not the problem.” Participants will highlight the vital role migrants play in the local community — from lecturing at Brunel University, to driving the U4 bus and Elizabeth Line trains, to treating patients at Hillingdon Hospital.
Stand Up to Racism Hillingdon is a grassroots campaign formed in 2025 in response to rising anti-migrant activity in the borough. It is part of the national Stand Up to Racism network, working to oppose racism, support refugee and migrant rights, and build inclusive communities across the UK

Friends of friends of the network a shared this update:

https://globalsumudflotilla.org/about/

Urgent action request =
= Ewa Jasiewicz and Osama Qashoo have been abducted by the Israeli military on their way to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. There's a demo TODAY at TODAY at 5.30pm in Parliament Square(Oct2nd)

And/or please please write to Ewa's and Osama's constituency MPs, asking them to do all within their power to ensure the safety of these brave friends and an end to the seige of Gaza.

- Ewa Jasiewicz's MP is Keir Starmer: [email protected]
- Osama Qashoo's MP is Dianne Abbot: [email protected]

Some bullet points to guide your email:
● The Global Sumud Flotilla has been attacked at sea by a foreign entity.
● Thirteen UK citizens are on board — their safety must be guaranteed.
● This is urgent and requires immediate action.

● The UK has binding obligations under the Fourth Geneva Convention to protect civilians and prevent genocide.
● Attacking the flotilla violates the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
● Preventing humanitarian aid from reaching Gaza breaches international humanitarian law.

● UK citizens are risking their safety to deliver life-saving humanitarian aid.
● The flotilla challenges Israel’s illegal siege and stands in solidarity with civilians in Gaza.
● The UK must not be complicit by ignoring attacks on its own citizens or blocking humanitarian assistance.

● Stress that their response will be remembered.
● Make clear that upholding international law and protecting UK citizens is not optional, but a basic duty of government.
● Ask for a reply confirming what action they will take.

We are a coalition of everyday people—organizers, humanitarians, doctors, artists, clergy, lawyers, and seafarers—who believe in human dignity and the power of nonviolent action.
