Akshaya Patra Foundation UK

Akshaya Patra Foundation UK No child should be deprived of education because of hunger. The Akshaya Patra Foundation is the world’s largest NGO school meal provider.

We serve 1.6 million school children across India every day. One in three of the world’s malnourished children live in India. Families facing extreme poverty often have to make choices that the rest of us find difficult to stomach. Sending a child to school is not a priority if you are unable to buy enough food, and even if that child does make it to school, a hungry pupil cannot reach their full

potential. In partnership with the Indian government, local authorities, businesses and private individuals, we provide freshly cooked, nourishing lunches in over 13,000 schools across 11 states in India. By providing free nutritious meals, we encourage families to send their children to school instead of sending them out to work in exchange for food, and allow pupils to access the transformative power of education.
