We’re proud to announce this year’s theme for our 7th Annual Black Maternal Mental Health Week UK, coordinated by The Motherhood Group.
JOY • JUSTICE • JOURNEY
📅 21 to 27 September 2026
Now in its seventh year, Black Maternal Mental Health Week brings together Black mothers, grassroots organisations, community groups, clinicians, charities, researchers, policymakers and healthcare services to create a collective national conversation around Black maternal mental health.
JOY because Black motherhood should be celebrated beyond trauma, risk and statistics. We want to make space for love, culture, community, rest, healing and happiness.
JUSTICE because Black mothers deserve to be listened to, believed, protected and supported with dignity. Awareness must lead to accountability, culturally safe care and meaningful change.
JOURNEY because maternal mental health is not one moment. It can include pregnancy, birth, NICU, baby loss, trauma, postnatal mental health, identity, returning to work, community, recovery, healing and everything in between.
This September, we want to know:
What will you be doing for Black Maternal Mental Health Week?
How will you support the campaign?
Will you be part of the conversation?
Host an event. Run a Lunch & Learn. Bring your community together. Share the campaign. Display the resources. Join the conversations on Mumbrite. Commission training. Create your own activity. Amplify Black mothers’ voices.
Throughout the week, follow for campaign films, lived experience, events, conversations, resources, community activity and the full programme.
Visit themotherhoodgroup.org for campaign updates, resources and ways to get involved, and mumbrite.com to join the conversations and connect through the Mumbrite platform.
Celebrate the joy. Demand justice. Honour the journey.
