Limmud

Limmud Wherever you find yourself, Limmud will take you one step further on your Jewish journey. Chemi Shalev, Haaretz, January 2012 http://jewi.sh/100z0

"Limmud offers bright-eyed and bushy-tailed enthusiasm, rather than humdrum establishment routine; it celebrates an insatiable Jewish thirst for knowledge at a time of reality-induced, mind-numbing mediocrity; it features original ideas and outside-the-box thinking against the backdrop of increasing uniformity and spreading dogma; it gathers Jews of widely disparate backgrounds while isolation and

sectarianism abound all around; and it allows free and open debate of the most controversial topics in a long-forgotten atmosphere of curiosity and mutual respect."

One month on from Limmud Festival, we are excited to launch our volunteer recruitment for 2026 on the eve of Tu B’Shvat, the Jewish New Year for Trees.

We find it slightly strange that this festival is in the middle of winter when trees looks bare and 11th Century commentator Rashi thought so too and explains that this is the moment when the sap begins to rise, quietly nourishing what will only become visible months later.

This feels like a powerful metaphor for us at Limmud. So much of what makes our programmes meaningful comes from people who choose to invest time and care long before anything is visible - planting ideas, relationships, and possibilities that will only bear fruit later on.

This year has so many more opportunities than ever to get involved in shaping Limmud’s work and we would love for you to be involved.

If you want to be part of Limmud's growth, check out more role details and fill out an application to volunteer at bit.ly/limmud26volunteer by the end of the day on Monday 16th February
